My old guitar teacher said when he was with his band and they opened for SP back in the 90s, one of the coolest parts was backstage when Billy and James turned on the amps before their set began and tuned the guitars themselves while making all sorts of weird noises and shit.

Yeah, SP tuned their own guitars at this show he played with them. I don't remember the specifics since he told me everything 4 years ago, although his band was called 'Millions' or something like that.
