Yeah, shelve that excitement as all the machina/Zeitgeist songs played live before the albums came out ripped off your balls/tits with greatness. Yet once they get put on an album they SUCK donkey balls/tits instead. As long as Billy is allowed to have final say on the production of any new albums, this shit will continue to stink. . and not of roses.

The Gossamer/Silverfuck combo provided a pretty rocking ending. I also thought we were going to get shortchanged with a short show as the set break was less than 5 minutes but the encore melted my face off. I was hoping for a little Mayonaise as a surprise closer but it was a no go.

It was a great show and a good way to end the residency.

They really played Oui Henri?

This makes me cry. I'm the biggest fan of Oui Henri. How could I miss this holy moment? It's so unfair.

I thought Billy's heart froze after I listened to TFE. this stuff is really reassuring. Zeitgeist is good, too, in its way. Really great, I love it. But lyrically it's nothing remarkable that I can tell. This stuff... this and "I Don't Mind" are really great.

Mmmm exciteddd!
I agree!!

I want an acoustic folk-rock album from them now... ..but seeing this is good too.

So have we concluded if the first song played was "Question Mark" or a completley new one?

also worth noting: there was a crowd chant of "soma, soma, soma" and billy said, "soma? that's the drug in aldous huxley's brave new world..." and as people continued to chant, he said "here, we'll play one that sounds just like that" and launched into tarantula.

I don't think so. According to this (in front of Jeff's stand), it was "Psalm 131" and the "song for this moment" is "The Leaving Lament."

my favorite part last night was def. the tease of Oui Henri. i was about two deep from the stage between billy and jeff and i felt like the only one around that knew what it was. billy started playing the riff then sang "Oui Henri" a few times while jimmy began the bass drum and snare taps. billy then asked jimmy if he remembered the song before saying to the effect of "1988, pumpkin fan." to the crowd.

What the hell is Orpheus Descending? Can anyone attest to what it sounds like? Same goes for Psalm 131. Also... ''The Leaving Lament'' has to be the best song spawned from the Asheville Residencies. It even trumps ''I don't mind''

Here is my best attempt at remembering the whole gossamer > teeth solo > silverfuck thing

The show was amazing. Crowd energy level was high, and billy was goofy/silly and having a great time at the end of the show. Gossamer went on for a really long time.. i dont know exactly how long, however.

Towards the end of gossamer.. jimmy broke out with an insane drum solo for about a minute and a half as billy leaned up against the bass cabinet and just smiled and made joking hand gestures back and forth with jeff about jimmy.

Then the band came back in, and billy.. somewhat awkwardly, did somewhat of a "bring it down" motion with his hands and commanded the band to stop playing the song. This brought a close to gossamer, as they played very quietly in the background as billy said his thank-yous to everyone in asheville, etc..

Then out of nowhere jeff starts jamming again, and billy said something to the effect of "and then jeff goes and brings it back.. ok you want to bring it back?"

Jeff and jimmy solo battled for about a min or so.. then billy tries to one-up jeff by playing with his teeth.

like noise at first, for the first few notes.. then he found his mark and started pulling out some decent riffs.

This was followed by some jeff teeth playing as well.. but he gave up on it fairly quickly.

Then billy played behind the back, and looked over at jeff, but jeff did not want to attempt it, and the battle ended with billy as the victor.

I was pretty sure the show was going to end at that point, but the crowd was still going crazy, so billy stated that he would play one more song if we "all purchased the album on tuesday. If not, jeff will come back to asheville and kick all of our asses" [jeff makes mean face and pounds his fist into his hand]

So then the whole para jaka thing happened, and joked around and killed 5 min or so.. and finally ended it by saying:

"ok, enough with this charade, now i am going to kick your ass!"

and jumped right into an energetic silverfuck
