Default Fuck NME

Taken from the NME site

NME.COM is at band's first show in seven years
7 hours ago

The Smashing Pumpkins made their hugely-anticipated live return tonight (May 22) - and NME.COM was there.

Billy Corgan's returning grunge titans performed a mammoth three-hour set at Paris Grand Rex, the band's first performance since their 'farewell' show at Chicago Metro in December 2000.

The group premiered a string of tracks from their comeback album 'Zeitgeist', including set opener 'United States', 'Doomsday Clock', 'Starz', 'Neverlost', 'That's The Way (My Love Is)' and forthcoming single 'Tarantula'.

The show saw the unveiling of the band's three as-yet unnamed new members, a female keyboard player and bassist and male guitarist. Only frontman Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain remained from the original line-up. Corgan did not name them from the stage, though NME.COM should have confirmation of their names shortly.

The band also performed old classics such as 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings', 'Today', 'Disarm', '1979' and 'Cherub Rock'. Corgan also incorporated The Doors classic 'The End' into the band's version of 'Silverfuck' from 1993's 'Siamese Dream' LP.

Before new song 'For God And Country', Corgan addressed the capacity crowd, saying: "We are The Smashing Pumpkins, you should be very afraid...but not of The Smashing Pumpkins. The Smashing Pumpkins are your friends. If you need a shoulder to cry on or a helping hand or even some euros to pay the rent...The Smashing Pumpkins", before opening his arms out wide.

At the end of the show the star said: "Thank you very much for coming to see our first show back. Fom our hearts god bless you, see you all on the Champs-Elysees."

The set *******d:

'United States'
'Today'
'Stand Inside Your Love'
'Doomsday Clock'
'Home'
'Hummer'
'Starz'
'Tarantula'
'Bullet With Butterfly Wings'
'For God And Country'
'Thirty-Three'
'Mayonnaise'
'Winterlong'
'Glass & The Ghost Children'
'Cherub Rock'
'1979'
'Tonight, Tonight'
'Neverlost'
'That's The Way (My Love Is)'
'Disarm'
'Zero'
'Shame'
'Silverfuck/The End'
'Annie-Dog'
'Muzzle'

'Zeitgeist' is released on July 7.

The Smashing Pumpkins headline this year's Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals on the weekend of August 24-26. They previously headlined the bash in 1995.

i think it's strange that he didn't introduce them, but maybe for the first show he wanted to avoid the boo'ing and negative reactions that would come from not having the originals

he probably feels in his mind that this band is still the pumpkins, and why introduce the new members as separate entities

Properly no reason to introduce the new band members!!! I sure most people who went knew who they were already and had done thier research. But still would have been nice if he did introduce them make it a bit more personal.

Why Fuck NME, true they are shoddy journalists but this is a pretty biast piece of writing with no opions or anything its just news really.
