Will video on the 5th, but only have 1 battery that will last about an hour. If I could hook up with somebody else maybe we could do it in shifts.

Excellent thread. The potential for capturing these shows is incredible, if people could just coordinate. I have never videotaped but may consider trying one night at Fillmore

06/23 hopefully if someone can trade me for one of my tix to 06/24, 07/02 or 07/03

I have tix to these
06/24
06/29
06/30
07/02
07/03

I'll be buying 3-5 of these Sony AVC-HD camcorders that do true HD - 1080x1920
Sony DCR-SR300C

I'll also have these standard definition camcorders with me
Sony VX2100 MiniDV w/Rode VideoMic
Sony VX-2000 MiniDV w/Rode Stereo VideoMic
Sony TRV-950 MiniDV

I can probably get my hands on 3-6 more camcorders. Since I'm not a tarantula I'll need some people to help.

I also have 5 GorillaPods. Hopefully we can mount these on a pipe or something somewhere.
http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/slrzoom/

Than I have 2 mic setups
AKG ck93 hyper-cardioid capsules (mod) > RM 3-wire battery box > iRiver H120

Sonic Studios DSM-6S/L > PA-6LC3B (roll off @ 65Khz) > iRiver H120

My roommate will probably let me borrow 2 of his 3 rigs
akg ck93 (mod) > 3 wire batt.box

nak300 (mod) + cp1 (card) > ca st-9100 preamp

studio projects c4 > aerco preamp

When the band announced they were allowing videotaping, I don't think they were inviting people to set up their own movie studios inside the venue! How many camcorders are you actually planning to bring?!

If you can handle all this, more power to you! I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted you to keep things a tad more relaxed though.

I have a Sony HandiCam I was thinking about using for the 23rd. It would be nice if they'd set up a section in the back for tripods, that way we wouldn't have to worry about missing the show. But then again, there's always theft...and Asheville is full of 'em.

Also, I don't have a special mic, so it would probably sound shitty coming through the one that's built into the camera.

I'll be filming, but I want it to be good. My friend is a digital media major at the Art Institute here in Pittsburgh, and we're already trying to work out some of the details as to how to pull it off as good as we can. He's the brains with this type of stuff, and I've seen his past work with concerts and it's pretty good. The biggest thing is the audio. I think we may use an independent audio recorder and dub in the sound when we get home. We'll see. Got some planning to do though.

Like I said. 3 - 10 camcorders. Why would I joke about something so serious? At least I left off my Alesis HD24 24 track hard drive recorder

Sounds promising, good luck! And YES definitely find a good audio source from real mic's when mixing your DVD!!!

Either I am reading this wrong. But if you are calling the DCR-SR300c High Def then

This is NOT a High Def camcorder!

I will be attempting digital video and shotgun mic audio on July 2nd and 3rd, either or both depending on my positioning in the club (i.e. if i'm in a shitty location behind a support beam, I won't even try for video). But we're definitely going to be bringing all of the equipment in hopes of a good capture.
