Default Melissa is more Pumpkins than D'arcy. Discuss

I don't wanna make a big thing out of this, but I just realised that I really, really don't wanna have D'arcy in SP2. I mean c'mon, she has'nt been giving a shit about SP in years, whereas Melissa has always been so enthusiastic about SP...as if she has never been in Hole. Just listen to the way she talks about SP...she sounds like a little fan girl, like one of us really. If Melissa is in the band, i know that weŽll have a 100 % committed, motivated member, who will do literally everything to make it work.
I know D'arcy was important to SP, but I think Melissa fell in love with SP for the same reasons (and same records) as most of us....so ironically she might be capturing that spirit a lot better. she's dedicated.
Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

I think you are a stupid piece of shit. However, I have no problem with Melissa being part of SP. MADM, Bill, and Jimms is good enough for me.

I think for "sentimental" reasons it would be nice to have D'arcy back, but all in all, i think Melissa definetly rocked harder than D'arcy

They both seemed happy to be in the band, but I think there was just too much drama between the original band members and it had an adverse effect on their public "relationship", which is why D'arcy comes across as not being as "loyal". With Melissa however, it was like a fresh start for her/the pumpkins. She wasnt around when all of the bullshit was going down, so it makes it easy for her to be enthusiastic...

i don't believe there's a chance in hell d'arcy would come back, so i guess it's mostly moot anyhow.

but i really can't see melissa telling bill that certain ideas suck and to try something else. a lot of people would agree that saying exactly that was one of the main sources of d'arcy's value to the band, mostly because bill said as much in interviews.

I think its stupid to say one person has more "loyalty" to a SUCCESSFUL band then someone who struggled with it and made it what it was. If Darcy doesn't want to be back in, then I assume she has her good reasons. Its just plain stupid to compare the two. Besides, we all know bill doesn't care to offer her an invitation. More money for him.

Go fuck yourself phoenix you chickenshit.

One of the only reasons for me to become mod of the sp board so that they can't put me on ignore. What would he and davin do then?

lol...you're fucking stupid if you think that's a money issue. if you had any clue at all about how the music industry works you'd know that you only get money for writing / composing credits which d'arcy doen't have anyway. so d'arcy would get the same money as melissa...that is as a paid band member who earns for performance.
you're the stupid piece of chickenshit

I think more or less what he is trying to say is that Melissa seems like she just loves making music with the pumpkins, whereas D'arcy was just kind of "there" for a while...I agree, that if she really wanted to be back in (regardless of if Billy would "take her back"), she would have made an attempt a long time ago, thats why i dont think anyone really expects it to happen. I guess it isnt a matter of "loyalty", its just more or less the difference between the amount of effort and heart they put into it.

i think melissa is indeed more pumpkins then d'arcy because there are more letters from melissas name found in "smashing pumpkins" then in d'arcys....thats LOGIC right there kids

This doesn't make sense...she's capturing D'arcy's spirit? Why not just put D'arcy back in the mix?

i think he's trying to say towards the end d'arcys view of smashing pumpkins was that it was that thing that pays for her crack where as melissa enjoys the pumpkins because she was originally a fan of them and has that fresh spirit to actually work and help them improve.

cause Melissa loves SP and D'arcy doesn't (or at least not anymore). it's as simple as that. D'arcy in SP2 would seem awkward, it would look like she's only in for the money. i would not buy into that sudden nostalgia, would you?

Melissa was energetic, but to say she has more loyalty to the pumpkins is moronic. Besides being loyal isn't always the best thing. We have many perfect examples of that on this board (davin, kahlo, phoenix, anyone else who thinks bill is perfect). All

Melissa was is happy to get away from courtney. Anyone would love the next band after dealing with love for however long she was in hole.

Melissa was a fill-in and that's pretty much it. I don't care if D'arcy is living on her farm or in a gutter somewhere, she's a Pumpkin. From how she was described in the first post, Melissa sounds more like a really, really lucky fan who happened to play bass. And that's the main problem, I'd see her just going along with whatever Billy wanted to do and not really giving him a good mental slap to the back of his head once in a while like D'arcy did.

How the fuck do you know that? Just because she may not want to be in the band does not mean she doesn't love the band, or what it once was. Maybe, the band just isn't what it once was to her. It isn't for many of us and won't be again.

We all know who's in this for the cash and much needed ego boost. Its not darcy.

We sure could have used her around for the "machina mysteries".

We don't even know if D'arcy is a crackhead. And, while aesthetically pleasing, just because Melissa looks good doesn't mean she's going to add anything more creatively to the band than D'arcy would.

i think jimmy brings alot more to the new pumpkins then d'arcy ever would and she left the pumpkins of her own free will if i recall i don't see why she would want to walk back into it and the same goes for james
