Why are foreign movies "films"?
I hate that.
"I like foreign films" "like kodak?" "...." |
because it seems more exotic than "movies". thats all I can think of.
I hate the word "cuisine" also.
...and scientologists and republicans.
most likely because the money that was spent on a foregin "film" probably never went towards Charlie Sheen paying for coke and whores.
so kodak is foreign eh
I always thought film was english and movie was American. Just as 'mail' and 'post'

ive always just be default called kinda shitty entertainment-based ones movies, and more substantial, rich ones, films. 'movie' just has more cheap connotations to it, film is more significant. i use it accordingly, i dont know why you take such offense to its use.
well said, sleeper. i was going to say something just like that.
american films are "movies"
I took an intro to Cinema this past summer session, and my prof. called every movie we watched films. American and nonamerican.

Personally I like to call it "The Magical Moving Picture Shows Made By Elves"
It hasn't really caught on. |
I call foriegn films "foriegn films" because of the alliteration, I guess.
So, uh. You hate the English language, don't you, Matt? :erm |
