mhm, where to start so i don't get eaten alive in here..ok. i never really met a jew (in fact one was at my work, but i only met him once before he quit) and i live in a country which a lot of history with jews, esp in WW2. therefore, we ARE educated for openmindedness and i don't really see any difference between jews, catholics, muslims and so on. and so do many (i dare to say most) of my age here in austria. and that exactly is the reason why people tend to say that jews "use" the holocaust as a kind of "trump card". you know, i don't really see a reason why one should not be allowed to critisize israels politics in the middle east. but as soon as a politician or another person of public interest expresses this criticism, he is labeled antisemitic by the quite powerful jewish lobby. it's a kind of reverse fascism. one is not allowed to criticise the jews, because they suffered in WW2. don't get me wrong, i think the holocaust was one of the most cruel and unforgiveable act of violence that has ever taken place in reported history, but be honest, why do YOU have to hide behind it? i say, if someone calls up of the jews as the worlds evil - call him antisemitic. if someone denies the holocaust - call him antisemitic, but if someone doesn't like you or just generalizes certain behaviours of the jews (like it is done with many groups like hispanics, blacks, arabs, white trash americans, germans and even austrians[think mozart, mountains..and what else??]) he is not an antisemitic. and if someone dares to critizise israels politics he is also not an antisemitic. just my 2 cents

being a minority has a lot to do with it. people learn from experience. a person that has been discriminated against or generalized in the manner in which you are doing would be more apt to be open minded and accepting of differences in others. obviously in your lily white world you don't encounter such differences on a regular enough basis for you to form a real opinion. and the fact that the few jews that you've interacted with have been rude and annoying shouldn't be the determining factor in your dislike of them. that's pretty damn ridiculous. obviously you need to get out and live a little more if you're basing your opinions on a whole race of people on a few encounters. that's neither valid nor intelligent. if you can't see that within that one race there are a million different types of people than you're just an idiot. and i'm not looking to change your opinion. you're wrong and i'm right and that's good enough for me.

i'm basing my opinions on the jews i've met in conjuction with research i've done into their belief system/religion

it seems to me that the jews i've met follow the religion to the letter of the law so to speak. if anything they'd be considered 'good' jews IMO.

maybe on a purely personality level tho, yeah...the jews i've met may have been a bad sample of the population...i will admit that point.

however...as severin so beautifully pointed out, deciding to 'not like' jews or their politics (as i do) is NOT antisemitism.
