I still don't understand why the book was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the movie was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

they wanted to sell the movie to kids more. Hence all the songs and the title change. That actually really pissed off the author. Check out the double-disc DVD SE they released for lots of interesting factoids.

my favourite tibit of behind the scenes info is when the writer of the movie came up with the final line of the movie "You know what happened to the boy who got all he wanted ... he lived hapily ever after" he thought to himself "God, I suck!" and when the director heard that line he thought "God, that's genius!!"
