Jewel cases or digipaks?

I know this is kinda music related but I don't care - the people must find their voice. Which do you prefer? I personally love digipaks and will go out of my way to get the digipak version over a jewel case if there's one available. Plus my band's going to be releasing an EP soon and it would be good to get some preferences. Vote away

USB Keyfob.

Fattening Ass 01-18-2004 07:34 PM

Digipaks are annoying. They get damamged easily and don't pretect covers from the elements.

2Marlon2Brando 01-18-2004 07:34 PM

If it's for your band, get the digipak.

Lie 01-18-2004 07:35 PM

I hate jewel cases. They're annoying. Digipacks are cool.

Yeah, but anywhere I've looked describes it as an 'upmarket alternative to jewel cases', which means more dinero. Anyways Mr Gil, I find jewel cases get damaged more easily, especially if you keep taking the booklet out.

mirrar 01-18-2004 07:37 PM

jewel cases. those stupid digipack things never fit in my cd organizers and it LOOKS MESSY AND I HATE IT

i rarely mess with my jewel cases and rarely take out the booklet. I haven't listened to my pearl Jam No Code cd in forever, yet the digipak looks like its been to iraq and back.

mewl 01-18-2004 07:41 PM

whoops! i meant to vote 'other', sorry. i'd personally make them myself. homemade shit is cool. that way you could make a sort of jewel case-digipak hybrid. :erm

but i'm just a lame-o arts and crafts freak....

Exactly, it's like taking some cool design and saying 'ok, now we're going to put everything in a plastic case just so it's not *too* individual'. I still can't believe you guys got a digipak of Leaves Turn :'(

I also like it because it makes me feel like I'm buying records. Except they're little! And cute!

yeah, that's a bit too much work for that many damn people. even the kids you got to do your labor would revolt. just go with the jewel cases. they look easier to use than the digipak.

they're pretty easy to find in digi. http://www.tonevendor.com/item/3452 (and from my flavorite recca sto) i think even direct from krs might sell them. i ended up getting both the gatefold lp and the digi from tonevendor.

oh, and i vote for digi. foldout digi is even cooler.

Exactly! I'd not even thought about it that way but that was in the back of my mind. I can't believe jewel cases are winning...

Oh hey, while you're here check this out

I actually tried to get it on import, but they said it would take weeks and recommended I go for the domestic release - which ended up taking weeks itself. If I'd known the KRS one was a digipak... :o

Fattening Ass 01-18-2004 08:01 PM

i agree with the individuality of digipaks, and think they are better when artists put work into how creative they can be with em, but i still prefer having the jewel case for its durability and protection.

wild light 01-18-2004 08:06 PM

i think digipacks are pretty cool, but i prefer jewel cases because i like the artwork undamaged.

Are you planning on taking a machine gun to your CD collection or are you just being an old man?
