please recommend me some Neil Gaiman
 

ive never read any of his stuff but ive heard he is awesome. whats the best book\comic for me to just pick up at the store to give me an example of his writing? and that ill understand the story even though i havent read the other ones.

American Gods is amazing. So's Smoke and Mirrors.

As for comics...you really need to read them in sequence. There's a few you can read out of sequence, but, overall, it's better if you read them in order.
