i'm going to buy a toy to donate to a kid...
 

I need your advice on what to buy.
I was thinking a kaleidoscope because I never had one as a kid and it seems like it can go to either a boy or a girl.
I don't even know what's a hip toy these days for the youngins. =/

There's been a toy donation box for terminally ill kids in our residence hall lobby for a few weeks. Last week someone stole all the stuff out of it. :(

People make me sick.

At church they always have a little tree with ornaments with kids names on it and what they want for xmas. We always get some and it's pretty sad the things they put down like mittens, scarfs, or even crayons. It sucks when you're a kid and you need these things but really want that He-man instead. It sucked being poor as a kid. We usually get 3 of these things.

Just buy some Barbies for the chicks and some hot wheels for the boys. Sorry, i'm not down with what's cool now. All I know is something called Yu-gi-oh or something.

No I don't.
It's just a toy drive and I don't know who my toy goes to.

Well in that case, like Sepiae said, books are your best option.

The younger kids seem to enjoy a series called Captain Underpants.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It's a favorite classic. Plus, I loved this book when I was younger, and I even went to see the production play.

I would go with either one of the Harry Potter books in the series.
Because we all know kids loved these books.

Older age children(11-14) may enjoy the book "Holes"
You may have seen avertsing for the new Disney movie that made millions. Chances are, the child may have seen the movie, so this book is a nice opition.

Everyone in my family picks a child off the Angel Tree, a tree with ornaments of little paper dolls on it (like someone sais above I think) the chosen child comes with a christmas list and what he/she needs, their clothing size, etc... Anyway, Legos are always good gift.

You know the post office has stacks of letters to Santa from kids. Maybe you can get a letter and buy whatever the kid wants and mail it to them. I've always thought that it was a really thoughtful program 'cause kids actually think Santa responded.

You buy and wrap a gift and / or a piece of clothing for that child, and the Salvation Army distributes the gifts to the families. Last year, they asked that participants buy one toy and two articles of clothing for each child, but this is flexible and is entirely up to you. (Children's clothing is surprisingly cheap at Walmart - I had no idea)

you can pick up a tag from salvation army, this might be in other towns, i don't know i just found out through someone else.

I do my part for the kiddies by resolving to remain clothed in public for yet another year.

















Get 'em a camera. I don't know why, but every little bastard I've ever met was fascinated with cameras. Especially those little mini 110 jobbers. Yep.

I was in a store somewhere last holiday season, and as I was walking past the toy aisle, I saw these ridiculously adorable stuffed animals (I think they were either dogs or apes) and I had to buy them. I hope some kids enjoyed them.
