Woman squashed by plane passenger
LONDON, England -- A woman injured while squeezed next to an obese passenger on a trans-Atlantic flight has been given £13,000 ($20,000) by the airline. Barbara Hewson, 63, was offered damages by Virgin Atlantic after suffering a blood clot, torn leg muscles and sciatica following a flight to Los Angeles in January 2001, the UK's Press Association reported. She said the woman passenger was so large she had to sit with the arm rests up, but when she complained, the crew said there was nothing they could do as the plane was full. Hewson, of Swansea, Wales, who still has medical treatment, was quoted by PA on Monday as saying: "It was never about the money. No money would pay for you having sleepless nights with the pain." The freelance writer, who travelled with her husband Roy, 67, said she spent most of her holiday in bed. "It ruined the holiday. We went out very little." Hewson added that half-way through the flight the woman asked if she was okay, saying to her: "I'm sitting on your lap." "I had three sessions of sitting in the hostess seat and I stood for a little while," added Hewson. Virgin Atlantic said in a statement: "This was an unprecedented set of extremely unfortunate circumstances. "We have apologised to Mrs Hewson and offered her compensation, which she has accepted, and we are pleased that this has now reached a conclusion." |
i heard this story the other day...wtf?
how big was the other woman? that's what i wanna know |
it should be illegal for anyone 20 lbs. over weight to buy ding dongs maybe then we wouldn't have this problem. and those peanuts on the planes aren't exactly low fat. dust off the thigh master, i say, you fat fucks.

It's a tough issue, though. Cos what're you gonna do? If they charge you for two seats, then you're gonna get the constitution shoved up your ass. Also, what if it's a last minute thing and there are no seats available 2 in a row? But it's honestly not fair to make an average sized person who's paid for their whole seat to have to share it with someone who needs more room than they've purchased themselves. To me, the solution could be that they have a few big seats reserved only for people over a certain butt-size or whatever, and only they can use them. If the flight gets ready to take off and they haven't been purchased, then people can ask to take them or something. That way people wouldn't be bitching "Well i want a big seat! This seat's small for me!" Cos proportionallky it would be the same discomfort. make sense?

no, what the airlines *should* do, is make seats that are comfortable for people who are over 7 years old. even super skinny people are crammed in them. imagine the embarassment the obese person felt. that's so sad. the obese person should sue the airlines too for mental anguish or something.

I vote for bigger plane seats or at least more leg room because luckily my problem is that my legs are too long not that my ass is too big

FUCKING AIRLINES.
Those fucks lost my bag and I had to spend like 6 days with like the same set of clothes I wore with me on the flight and fucking went around like crazy trying to find clothes to wear to this wedding and for every other day.
It was also raining in my trip to NY so my only pair of jeans kept on being sopping wet and it was COLD. On the other hand, to make up for it they gave me about $300... even though I spent like $200 buying clothes and this expensive ass dress for the wedding. My trip was like 2/3 ruined. |
