Who finds David Letterman funny?
Once when I was a wee little tyke, I would stay up in my very first apartment with my roomie and watch a funny man named David Letterman. Chris Elliot would show up, before anyone knew who he was and be funny and stuff and it was before Get a Life and Cabin Boy.
13 years later Letterman sucks. Big time. I hope he and Jay Leno are assasinated by Craig Kilborne and Kilborne gets the chair and execution is televised and Conan is the only person to be allowed to do a late night talk show (unless Jon Stewart is pulled away from Comedy Central).
Once long ago what Letterman did was considered to be "hip" and "different" and "refreshingly entertaining".
I see a few minutes of his show last night and I see him doing the same old shit, and doing it badly. There seemed to be a time when he interviewed guests and made them nervous. It didn't all seem so staged. The questions seemed to be unexpected.
Not only that, Paul Shaffer... what the fuck is his deal? How else should I put it... WHAT THE FUCK IS HIS DEAL? I just don't get him. WHAT IS HIS DEAL?
I'm getting old. Teenagers scare me. I cross the street if I see three or more of them on the sidewalk. MTV doesn't make any sense to me. I have gray hair. I have trouble getting up and down stairs. I drive 10 miles under the speed limit. I call the wrong numbers and ask for people who have been dead for years. I can't take a crap. When I can take a crap it's more like taking a piss out of my ass. I can't read things closely and I'm too stubborn to get bifocals.
Despite all of those things I still know that David Letterman sucks the big one compared to what he used to be. Maybe it was all the money that went to his head. Perhaps it was the stalker lady who thought she was his wife and kept breaking into his house and then later on commited suicide that made all his funny go away. I don't know what it is. He isn't funny anymore though.
