electrical, duh.

aspecialkid 10-19-2002 12:10 AM

well duh, electrical tape will not work at all.....not even for 20 minutes, soon as the water heats up,it will leak, and can ruin your engine only possible chance might be duct tape, and i really doubt that will work either. best chance might be "bars stop leak " sold at gas stations and stuff.

jenn 10-19-2002 12:11 AM

electrical tape kept my car going for 3 days last year when my radiator hose split. i had to put a lot of it on...but it worked.

aspecialkid 10-19-2002 12:14 AM

well dam,,,shows what i know, and i was in auto mechanics for 3 years...and did not learn to much i guess, but i was not thinking what would happen if you used a "ton" of it,i was thinking if you wraped around like 5 times... but it was leaking some atleast?

jenn 10-19-2002 12:16 AM

at the time, i was dating a guy who knew a shit load about this stuff...5 times is nothing, but if you use a half a roll or more, you'll be good for a day or two. the hose has to be replaced anyway.

strange_one 10-19-2002 01:16 AM

welll I went to the auto shop and bought this thick cloth gaffer tape, and I put a shitload of that around the hose. I've just taken the car for a quick drive round the block and it seems the tape is working so far, no leaks, but it is very hot though

oh ok, what does it do...run through your system and clog up and leaking spots or something?

FearFactory 10-19-2002 03:48 AM

Okay, first of all - it's not fucking hard to replace the goddamn radiator hoses. Even my girlfriend can do it.

Secondly, that stuff that you put in your radiator to stop up holes only works if the holes are small. If you have a huge-ass rip in your hose, it's not going to help.

yeah. i'm going  wondering why you just haven't done it yourself. or at least found another mechanic to take care of it already.

lol, yep, you got that right. and anyone can chage a leaking hose. but we are talking about netphoria, not auto 101.

Is it too late to say something witty about using those old condoms of yours to wrap around the hose?
