Old Skool Netphoria

Who else is old enough to remember what was Netphoria like several years ago? I remember when this place wasn't full of careless people and when people actually cared about each other... People would post rants, wear their hearts on their sleeves, and everyone else would be supportive...
It makes me sad when I see people go into flame wars and shrug it off like "it's Netphoria, what would you expect?". And yet, I am so used to coming here, I can't just stop coming :erm

I remember! Back in the summa of '98. It was a bit more familial. And philosophical. Not that this isn't a family; it's just more fucked up.

Hello miss Kenpogal! :D

Yeah, I suppose back then it was more like a united little family, and now it is a dysfunctional broken home... not that there is anything bad with it ;)

Maybe if certain people hadn't taken advantage of the supportive atmosphere by making posts for every single problem in their lives, then we wouldn't have all become so heartless and cynical. Just a thought.

I remember back in early 1999 I really dug this girl, and was thinking of asking her to the prom, but I didn't have the guts. So I made a post on Netphoria asking if I should ask her to the prom. Everyone said yes, and I got some great, supportive reasons why. I ended up asking her to the prom and had a great time. If it wasn't for Netphoria, I wouldn't have that great memory to look back upon.

I remember! I'm glad you had fun, Lucas :)

(I don't remember when I joined, probably a little bit after the very beginning... but I admit I am not as oldskool as you and Rhonda :) )

Do unto others Amazing Disgrace.

You've done nothing but ridicule me because of one argument we had in which I ended up admitting that although you would not respond to my questions, I was in the wrong for the Mormon bashing schtick.

Now for the past 24 hours you've posted about 30 insults which wore stale around post 5.

I'm sure this sounds whiny, but I would not be saying it if not for you mentioning the way everyone at Netphoria is heartless these days.

Bring it on big boy.

You've got a show up in the Austin Powers suit to get some of this sweet bootie.

Everyone was really mean when I first discovered this place...which was late 2000. I guess I missed all the fun.

I love that painting. Glad to see you like the classics too.

I don't remember much about Old Skool Netphoria since I was virtually absent through much of '99. I remember the old WWWBoard and stair-style format, and kenpogal telling me I'm a rude dude for criticizing people's grammar. I remember lucasmcd. I think all we talked about was Pumpkins back then. And philosophy, yes.

slunky_munky 10-18-2002 01:13 AM

I remember Osaka complaining about the worthlessness of Netphoria (post '99) with people complaining about not having enough fish and how he didn't care about how there was a shortage of fish.

What I liked best about old skool netphoria was the picture of Lucas and Warsaw driving around town in a big cock shaped car. (I remember something like that).

Crippler 10-18-2002 01:14 AM

I missed Old-School 'Phoria by about 18 months.

Thank God.

Ihaman 10-18-2002 01:15 AM

..i dont remember that either.

twilightfadez 10-18-2002 05:16 PM

:) and when the boards where really really old school and un-fancy ;)
ahhh the days

bonsor 10-18-2002 05:19 PM

The earliest milestone I can remember is cgi-bin2.

I'm most definitely not old school, But I'm coming up on 3 years here.

gish1991 10-18-2002 11:32 PM

waaaaay back

I remember first registering on the old board. I think it was either late 97 or early 98, reading rumor posts about Adore, before anyone had 'No Life' :D Before Netphoria I was posting concert reviews on Chris and Shyla's site. I picked my Hotmail address as 'gish1991' back in late 94 so it stuck since then for almost all forums I go to.

I mainly remember talkin to some of the Philly/NJ area Netphorians and met one or two at some Philly events, and maybe 2 or 3 from the NY area. Probably the best thing to come out of that time was finding about that small club tour early 1999 in time to get tickets. Thanx again Netphoria! :)

Travis Meekz 10-19-2002 09:23 PM

I've been lurking around here since the viper room mp3s went up

Yes, it wasn't a non-sequitur at all! :erm Actually that's one of the first things I remember about netphoria, so I guess I missed the prom... wait, so you went to the prom and later that night she sang Genie in a Bottle to you??

DeviousJ 10-19-2002 11:01 PM

It took her a year to change clothes? Damn, those must have been *tight* red leather pants
