So do I and I'm Texan! You know I've noticed that's a Southern thing... it seems like Southerners put gravy on a lot of things...

POUTINE IN MY PANTALON!

I grew up in the (southwestern part) states and I moved to (eastern) Canada so the change was pretty drastic. I don't think it would have been such a change if I had grown up on the East Coast or at least near the East. Overall, I think Canada and the United States are pretty similar. I mean, they don't drive on the opposite side of the road or anythnig. The government structure is a bit different. They have more of a British/French influence (their second national language is French and they have a Parliament). It's like a north americanized version of french and british culture. POUTINE IS GOOD. They serve poutine at many fast food restaurants :) but the ones from the chipwagons are best. They are more Euro (liberal) in their drinking ages... 18 in Alberta and Quebec, 19 in (I think) most others.

Come to think of it, there are quite a few cultural differences, but most of them are subtle. They spell some words the British way, others the way the U.S. had changed them. I'll be lynched by Canadians for saying this, but to me they're a kind of weave of French, British and American. And that's most definitely not to say that Canadians don't have their own culture. It's just the impression one gets from growing up in a European family in the U.S.

I guess it's just cozy for me here because it's close enough to the U.S. for me to feel comfortable, and European-feeling enough (at least where I am) for me to feel at home.

When I visited Canada, the only thing that struck me as different about the English-speaking parts was that it did have that slightly European feel and was hell of a lot cleaner. There were also more donut shops, which surprised me. And I was like, "Wow, I wanna move here."

And old Quebec is just beautiful.

Duuuuuude. French fries don't need anything on them to taste good.

Gravy? That's fucked up.

Gravy on fries is ok once and a while but I rarely get that. Not all places even have the option to put gravy on your fries anyways and also just because you can get gravy on your fries here doesn't mean everybody does.
