I've got an even better question for the fools that thought of this idea: what if a few select people do decide to pay for some rare bootlegs (if there are even boots, otherwise just rare songs) tracks but then tree said boots? We all could possibly wind up with a 12/2/2000 bootleg for pennies! HAHAHA! Don't hate the system, just circumvent it.

Anyway, to answer your question, I really don't use any programs like Napster mainly because I'm paranoid that someone could access some of my files in that manner. Mainly, I just surf the web for sites with rare or live mp3s (RIP deadohiosky, qotsa.net) while I still buy a bunch of albums but maybe I'm just a sucker.

is anyone here actually dumb enough to go buy songs from Apple?

i buy all my music... very very rarely do i ever download any mp3's or anything, but when i do i use kazaa (sucky i know) or irc.

diet kazaa and direct connect.

I'm with palidor. The stuff I download is usually live and unreleased, impossible for me to find anymore (I had to redownload all of my Meat Puppets stuff after my CDs were stolen and they weren't making them anymore - since, i have replaced them), or to check something out to see if it is worth buying.

Which one of these are you familiar with and/or use regularly? Which one has the best selection of decent music? I'd like to check one or two of these out but don't really want to d/l them all. Basically I'd just like to be able to d/l some albums before buying them, and Direct Connect is not working for me right now and for some reason it won't let me reinstall it. I'll probably have to do a hard drive reformat to get it to work again(which is needed anyway) but I can't right now, so any advice on these file sharing programs would be helpful.:D

I'm mostly familiar with Piolet, but for security FileTopia is even better
