But where do you find how much ram you have left on your PC? under windows explorer? control panel?? When I have explorer open, it says I have 7.1 Gs on the bottom there, but out of what?

You want to know disk space then - right-click your C drive and click properties

sounds like you want to know how much hard drive space.

you said 7.1 GB? that's plenty for a program. or you can right-click on the 'local disk (C:)' folder and then click 'properties' to get a nice pie chart of your hard drive.

EDIT im so late.

Oh, if you want to see your free ram you could get something like MaxMem to display it in the corner - it also lets you free up memory if you need it
