i hope their mission in whatever the fuck they're trying to do fails miserably.

ok, i kid, i kid.
but damn. if you know anyone that wants to go, be sure to tell them that if they've ever had even the tiniest medical thing like a beesting in the 8th grade, PC will make the biggest fuckin' deal out of it. Damn.

They have had my info since February... and contacted me at the end of May to say that they needed clarification of it. I SCRAMBLED to get everything I could... my real doc was gone so i did the best I could. They said I needed to be cleared medically by june 27th. I called my screening nurse, who they said was THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD HELP ME, and she is GONE until today. the guy said NO ONE ELSE could help me, that if i couldn't get the extra stuff to her by the 27th (absolutely impossible) it was over. Stupid fuckers. There went my FUCKING CHANCE that i worked for like 8 months for to do something fucking awesome with my life with. they've had my shit since FEBRUARY and only contacted me last month.

looks like grad school for me.

ok, that made me laugh, but c'mon. that was low.

Ouch. Well, what was it you wanted to do exactly? Was your focus on helping out, or on travelling and teaching? It's not over yet, if nothing else you could delay for a year, maybe get a job and save some money. If you want to travel, definitely look into teaching (I already gave you that esl link) and the PC thing isn't over yet. Explain the situation, contact someone higher in the organization, tell them that you can get the relevant information to them now.

nah, actually, PC IS over. I missed clearance for August, and wouldn't be able to go until next winter... however, even if the medical condition thing (which is, in and of itself, so minor and of little importance that it has no effect on my health while i'd be over there) did clear up, they'd have to postpone it again. I can't put my life on hold for that. Anyway... it wasn't necessarily just travelling... i've done that a bit, and I know that if i travel more (at this point, anyway) that I'd just get depressed 'cos i knew i couldn't stay.

That leaves the other teaching abroad programs. I realize that they are available to me, but in the time when everything was up in the air I was thinking about my motivation for leaving, reasons for staying and whatnot and it's become clear that my place, for now, is here. it's kind of a bummer to know i'm going to be staying home at least until spring and continuing at SDSU, but i LOVE SDSU and know that grad school is a very worthy thing to be doing with my time. Plus, my religions prof is the coolest motherfucker on the planet and has offered me a position doing research work for him. yeah.

so, things are looking up. just venting, i guess.
