Marriage age question

What is the age that you don't need your parents permission to get married? 21?

ammy 06-02-2003 01:01 AM

18

Yeah, marrying this early is stupidiy. 18 isn't really that old to make such a lifetime choice.
I wanna get married when I'm 27 to 30, so I still have 5 to 7 years. :)

Why are you a part of this thread? She left you, remember?

I know in at least one state (Louisiana maybe) you only have to be sixteen. But that's probably not really enforced, like that crazy Missouri law that you can drink underage if you're with your husband who's of age.

DevilSaint 06-02-2003 02:21 AM

If you're in Montana I doubt there's any specific age. Everything's legal in Montana...

Ugly 06-02-2003 09:27 AM

if you are gonna do it for the love of God don’t waste your 20’s on it. I went to a wedding this weekend and the bride and groom were 25. I could fucking hear the sealing of the lock slamming home when they put on the rings. My buddy is getting married this year and he’s going to be 23. Insanity, pure bollocks, I tell you.

Hardly. I stopped her cash flow, and she left. It was premeditated, you fucking dumbshit.

toyschoketoys 06-02-2003 10:24 AM

I got married at 20 and it now seems to be pretty much over, so wait .

Yeah, what the fuck ever. have you even ever been there?

You make it sound like Arkansas or something.

Oh, also, the age is 18 without parental consent. With consent, 16. I think that's pretty level with most state laws.

Wrong.

The whole question isn't valid, because at least in the U.S., these laws vary from state to state.

For example, the minimum age in Hawaii and Georgia is 16, the minimum age for males in Mississippi is 17 and females is 15, the minimum age in Nebraska is 19, and in Utah the minimum age is 18, but the law authorizes counties to provide for premarital counseling before issuing a license to persons under the age of 19 and persons previously divorced.

I live in Arkansas and last report had it at 13.

That is if you go to a country JP, and keep it secret. Certificate will show legal age. Only time it can be trouble is if the marriage is contested by parents. The Jp just has to say he was told the legal age.
Out here age is a state of mind and the willingness to lie. Usually the parents just let them stay married.

I got married at 21 and have been married for over 6 years, with no problems in sight. It all depends on the persons involved and having similar goals. i doubt most people have the necessary maturity level needed for such a commitment at such an early age. We just got lucky I guess.

Krafty 06-02-2003 11:37 AM

Hey, I'm living in Arrkansas now.

Lie 06-02-2003 03:26 PM
