my "sociology of crime and delinquency" class gets to tour a prison tomorrow. i can't wait! death row! maximum security! and a sit-down chat with 2 hardcore lifers! whee!

I think it'd be pretty funny if someone wore a prison outfit there, just to get into the whole psychology of the criminal mindset. Then he gets lost and and wanders onto the mile before the chair and the guards are like "Dead man walking" and take him off and electrocute him. so cool!

just got back. it was boring. 3 guys wore shorts and were told they couldn't go into the prison in shorts so they had to wear old inmates' jeans that didn't fit...and that was about the highlight of the day. and a born-again 1st degree murderer telling us about how his life changed one night when he was smoking a joint in prison and realized he should go to church. and that's about it. i learned so much about our prison system.

when i was in fourth/fifth grade, my girl scout troop took a tour of a prison. i don't really understand why, but we did.
