It's kinda funny how in this whole narrative of "it's white people ignorant about systemic racism telling minorities they ought to vote Biden," it's never mentioned that African Americans supported Biden over Sanders or Yang, that a primary motivation of theirs was getting rid of Trump (who made life appreciably harder for them even if intolerable systemic racism long preceded his presidency and will outlast it), and that it's African Americans that pretty much delivered the win for Biden.

I think Sanders' policies would have better benefited African Americans, too. But it turns out that when you talk to folks whose lives are actually meaningfully affected by who is in the White House and don't have the privilege of throwing their vote away in the name of ideological purity, the overwhelming majority of them actually find the lesser of evils an attractive option.

Like, if I say that "hat" is monosyllabic (hats don't have any syllables, but the word "hat" does), or if I say that I like to use the word "chutzpah," it makes sense to use quotation marks. Use-mention distinction, yo.
