Trump set the bar so low all Biden had to do was not crash and burn, and he achieved that. Trump remains his own worst enemy, and Biden was fairly good at letting him drag himself down in his own bullshit.

No one's mind was changed, and I still think Biden should have just declined to debate Trump, but Trump looked like he knows he's losing badly.

From the couple minutes that i saw it seemed like there barely was any actual debate material - it seemed more like a screaming contest and i fail to see the point in having a debate like that nor watching it

Biden almost committed to the Green New Deal by accident there but then backed off. It’s such a bad strategy for him to keep alienating the progressives. I absolutely hate Biden and don’t trust him at all, but if he would just commit to the GND, I’d grudgingly vote for him (even though my vote is pointless not being in a swing state) because we need bold action to fight climate change.

I saw a video of "swing" voters who were upset that Biden told trump to "shut up". They were mad at Biden for not acting presidential....

I know progressives who wanted him to scream over trump and basically do the same thing Trump was doing to him. But that would have further antagonized people who don't want to see candidates doing that.

Part of the reason so few people watch these debates or even care is that they blame everyone involved for the bad behavior of people like Trump.

There is nothing Biden could have done to make anyone happy about this. And there are no other failed primary Dems who would have fared overall any better. Certainly not any other 80 year old white men. Even Sanders in the primaries seemed foggy and slow and not up to it. If it mattered at all how well they could deliver zingers in debates someone else would have made it out of the Primary. Trump would have screamed over all of them too. He did the same to every Republican in 2016, and to Clinton.

The only way to avoid this is not to debate at all
