in class the other day we had to evaluate a newspaper as far as its inclusion of people of color. the cover was different than what i usually see and i mentioned it and this white girl in my group said, "it's a kobe bryant tribute even though he is rapist, but i'm not not mad. i'm not mad. actually, i'm very mad."

i then interjected that i had a problem with demonizing this black man because there is only this one allegation and there was never one before or after. Rapists (weinstein, polanski, trump) usually stay rapists. i'm not saying a man can't rape just once, but i'm skeptical when a black man is demonized by the word of one white woman. She was speechless but I'm sure she told her friends I wasn't "woke" or something.

It would have been so perfect if Damon Albarn had appeared out of nowhere in this moment to say only, "Park Five."
