the fact that he talked about this at all shows he's a bigot. it has nothing to do with taking "political correctness" too far

complaining about political correctness is a way for for misogynists and bigots to dismiss their behavior toward women and minorities.

I agree, it gets used like that all the time, which was why I felt a big 'uh-oh' when he started that subject. I don't think it's exclusively used for that purpose though, so I gave him sort of the benefit of the doubt as he spoke about this incident (which is admittedly quite a horrible one) and not about trans people in general.
