lots of 'expats' in Amsterdam, but all of them i associate with jobs in finance, or just better jobs in general. when you're an 'expat', your job pays your ridiculous rent. I live in an area with lots of morrocan immigrants though. no one ever calls them 'expats'. is that kind of what the argument was about? |
whatcolor: i just visited manila for a couple of weeks. but i am definitely going back somewhere in asia to live next year. thinking maybe chiang mai on a student visa (i met someone at my hostel who was doing that).
smashingjj: yeah that's exactly what it was about. when white/western ppl go somewhere else to live, it's "expats" and if it's anybody else, it's "immigrants" or "migrants." if you google "expat racist term" you'll see that ppl have been arguing about this for awhile. but i really shouldn't be arguing with the ppl who provide food and shelter to me... :( |
Oh hey buzzard do you like Apichatpong Weerasethakul's movies?

That's good to hear Reprise. What the hell are you doing up at 4 am btw? Is it raining in Miami too?

what's your excuse? speaking of publix, they left me with a huge mess in the office (paperwork error mess I mean) and I thought I couldn't fix it but I magically did and i deserve a fucking raise. It was error on top of error which is really hard to tease out |
yeah sounds like it
i go to sleep around five these days and wake up shortly after midnight lol. kinda like it tbh. quiet. nice walks. |

It looks like I got the job I was interviewing for. It’s fairly entry level stuff and doesn’t pay a huge amount but after 14.5 years out of the workforce (more or less) I’m grateful to be employed at all...but I feel anxious about everything
Most of my income will be eaten up by a car payment and private school fees, for the next two years #middleagedvixnix We’re still looking for a house and still living with my parents. But at least we won’t be driving their car anymore. One less thing to be embarrassed about, so that’s something. |
The end of our time of bitterness is within sight (just)
|
congrats vixnix

Thanks guise! And for the encouraging words...they mean a lot.

That's exciting stuff, Vix! I'm sure it will feel really satisfying once you get back into the swing of things. And fwiw there's nothing to be ashamed about a transitional period. You're still trying and moving forward, so just be grateful. You'll have a lot to be proud of!
|
thanks ilp. it is definitely good to be grateful!

post-Asia blues gettin u down again Took

post-Asia? shit that was just the first foray.
:D |
I'm pretty much on the brink of suicide, mainly because my girlfriend is denying me regular anal sex.
I've resorted to hanging out in public lavatories dressed as George Michael in the hopes that I'll bump into a submissive homosexual hottie who will allow me to quell my affliction within his curvy rump. If it doesn't happen, and I give up on life, then please remember me for who I was: A perverted arse bandit sought by the sheriff's office in several states. |

um

Super tired. No amount of coffee can shake it. I think it’s partly due to the many days of overcast weather. Also, eating poorly.
|
Profoundly ashamed. Do you guys look back on your old selves with compassion or dutifully avoid doing so because you can't help blaming and punishing your current self for the person you used to be?
|
I gaze across the mindscapes of my illustrious past with a triumphant eye and a haughty smile playing on my pouting, supercilious lips!
|
|
But yeah I feel you T-dawg.
I have to force myself to think about all the stupid/pathetic/cruel things I've done because otherwise I would just ignore it all. Not to avoid beating myself up, but to avoid the shame and futility. |
sneezy cause i've sneezed around 5 times in the last few minutes. and suddenly annoyed because a girl to my left is face chatting and having a loud conversation while she absentmindedly browses her internet.
it's pretty much impossible to hang out in a public place without a way to block out everything around you. once i asked a women to please stop having a public conversation on her earbuds while sitting on the train cause i could hear her over my music. she told me to turn my music up LOL then a girl next to her spoke up and then two others did who sided with me. she had to be shamed into not being the loudest turd on the train. typical these days. |
