It also just shows a lack of discipline being unable to practice enough to get to the point where they can do exciting things like create songs or play well.

reprise85 11-14-2019 02:12 AM

I started playing at like 11 years old. Don't know how good I'd be if I didn't have that child-like need to practice hard

re:the jellybelly incident - in a vain attempt to defend myself, the whole 'anyone can make noise whenever as long as they're practicing a thing' was to some degree a joke. i i didn't do shit wrong in my case [eg i'm 48 days sober now and still think our whole drinking age thing is utter garbage]

I thought reprise was a girl.

I thought Shallowed was a girl for a long time too but he sort of is because he likes cock.

Shallowed 11-14-2019 08:28 AM

What makes you think I'm not a girl?

Well I've written songs but it's no fun when you know they're not really very good.

Jeff practices guitar 6 hours a day and he's merely a decent player.

One can't waste one's life chasing pipedreams when there's dead forums of forgotten bands to be posting on.

The defence rests your honor.

You posted a pic of your sexy self in a photo thread I think.

Art doesn't have to say anything. What have you achieved or 'said' artistically? Shitty guitar licks recorded in your garage and posted on bandcamp don't count, sorry son.:smoke:

Poor.

This is a thread for offering support to reprise for shedding fat and shredding you know what.

You and redbreegull are hijacking it and making it all about me and that's a shame.

Mals Marola 11-14-2019 01:42 PM

so you agree Jeff Shroder is the best thing to happen to the 6-stringed AXE since Hendrix himself?

duovamp 11-14-2019 02:04 PM

Tom DeLonge is the greatest guitar player ever. It’s an accepted fact.

Candy Cane 11-14-2019 02:07 PM

Disco King is another tubby so I guess that's why he/she's so salty towards me. Needs to lay off the salt.

Just to clarify: fat people, I'm right behind you (though not when you sit down).

Know that when the chips are down (your throat) you can still turn it around.

I don't really like Hendrix. I didn't like his tone. Far too sarcastic.

duovamp 11-14-2019 02:36 PM

Get a load of this edgy motherfucker.

You would love this experimental music/art scene that I spend a lot of time in. The other week, a couple of guys did an audience-participatory performance of Alvin Lucier's "I Am Sitting in a Room". It was an amazing experience.

There may be a recording of it somewhere.

I'm thinking of giving up music entirely for literature

music sucks and music people suck

guitar is indeed no fun if you come at it from a mentality where your whole aim is proficiency

most even successful rock guitarists are going to range from decent to bad in comparison to a classically trained musician

but anyway music is the worst

Disco King 11-14-2019 04:52 PM

Are you really going to make your hobbies whatever hasn't been soured for you by your latest ex?

Elphenor 11-14-2019 04:59 PM

Yes. Nice perception

that girl never read shit

never fuck someone who doesn't read books

Elphenor 11-14-2019 05:11 PM

post-punks are just existentialists

it's an easy transfer from The Fall to Camus

from Josef K to Kafka

topleybird 11-14-2019 05:26 PM

One day you're finally going to mature and realize that all forms of entertainment are un-punk and inherently cryptofascist :banging:

reprise85 11-14-2019 05:30 PM

wow this candy cane person is kinda a jerk

Oh boy. I'm excited to read your new persona as somebody who has imported their personality from /lit/ instead of from /mu/.

They're sixteen years old and think that being edgy will win them favour with the big kids.

You know that age where kids start virulently rebuking Barney and Teletubbies to prove to everyone else in the room that they're big now and don't like stupid kid things? Candy Cane just realized three weeks ago that Bowling for Soup isn't very good, and they want us to know that.

Candy Cane 11-14-2019 06:48 PM

Which would make me 3 years old when I joined the board. Yes, I was a Pumpkins fan way before you guys.

elph, you can like music and books, ya wanker.

I could also do with cutting the High Fidelity mentality of picking mates romantic or otherwise based on superficial tastes

I'm working on it

like I have a date with a classmate based on her just seeming pleasant

Elphenor 11-14-2019 07:52 PM

but on topic of this thread

I play guitar quite a lot now...been about 7 years since I started, and I'm self taught and hardly spent anytime learning covers (find looking at guitar tab excruciatingly boring)

so I can always sit down and start fiddlin and have some kind of song going from any starting idea

I would say guitar is very very fun at this point, it can be overwhelming though as the instrument unfolds before you, it's easy to get lost in how much is possible
