after two days with it i am very happy with how it sounds and the quality for the price. it's really easy to play compared to my old guitar, way lower action, which is nice for starting again of course. i was playing a bit for the past month or two, so it wasn't like i just picked it up out of nowhere just the past few days, but i feel like i'm reasonably decent considering how long it's been. i'm not frustrated with not being able to play anything, i mean there's some stuff i can't play right but i just need some practice. i don't suck, i guess is what i'm saying. i've been playing a lot of my old stuff and whatever SP stuff is forever encoded into my brain matter. and a few misc things. really fun. and i got calluses on my fingers again :) |
cool! happy for you. i sometimes wonder if i'll ever pick it up again. i surely would have, had it not been for living mostly in apartments forever
but also like... it's easy to get stuck in a rut, playing the same old things and i'm not sure i feel like exerting the focus to grow my skills there. like that effort for me would be better spent trying to learn mandarin or something but regardless, |
i live in an apartment but i don't play early or late. is that acceptable? i just figured it was. also since it's acoustic
|
I mess around with my acoustic every once in a while but just very recently replaced my v cheap electric that got lost years ago. At a pawn shop that also had a little $50 Marshall practice amp that is perfect for my purposes. Haven’t really had the chance to do much with it but I am looking forward to it. I’ll never be a good guitarist but that’s not really the point. Just gonna play hummer on repeat or something.
I also played a music man stingray bass for a bit a couple weeks back lol. Real nice. |

I don't get much out of playing guitar. It's not very exciting really.
|
I could see it being exciting if you're really good or you can create great songs I guess.
It's the same with painting, if you're really good then you feel like you're contributing but if you're just messing around... |
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

[also my crazy radical point of view is that any music, no matter the volume, at any time, is okay as long as you're playing an instrument / creating it] Quote:

Except for that time when he had a window open because of the heat, and someone who was walking their dog in the area at 3am called the police. When the police arrived, they incidentally found evidence that Ram (a minor in your country at the time) had been drinking beer. They arrested him and confiscated his drums and beer. |

my radical view is everyone should be allowed to play 4'33 at any volume at any time during the day

Fuck. YES.
You would love this experimental music/art scene that I spend a lot of time in. The other week, a couple of guys did an audience-participatory performance of Alvin Lucier's "I Am Sitting in a Room". It was an amazing experience. There may be a recording of it somewhere. |
