The idea here is that instead of always being October 31, it would be whatever the last Saturday is so kids don't have to stay out late

I went out every year in the dead of night without parents or, fuckin', reflective tape on my costume or anything and I didn't die

But if I deserved to, I would have taken the L because Halloween is fucking awesome

The difference here is that things ruled for me as a kid and I want them to rule for kids forever

I don't expect this petition to take the country by storm; I'm just appalled by the idea that someone would propose Halloween be less dangerous

my father discussed halloween safety when he told me to watch out for razorblades in my candy. it's always been my least favorite holiday tho...such a drag to wear a costume and i can buy my own candy tyvm but i'm not even a candy freak like that

I sort of get it. I wouldn’t want them to change trick or treat to daytime...but a Saturday night would be nice. It’s always on a school night so it’s always sort of rushed for my kids. If it wasn’t a school night we’d provably stay out trick or treating a little bit later, we’d probably let them eat more candy when we get home. Instead it’s like oh we gotta get home and get ready for bed bc you have school the next day and oh don’t eat too much chocolate bc then you won’t be able to sleep!

And it’s hard for working parents -my hub usually has to miss out on doing it which I know he hates.

I like when Halloween falls in the middle of the week because it usually means that there will be parties all week since there's no consensus on when is best to have them.

i want it to remain on the 31st solely because i hate remembering holidays by days of the week and not dates. i need to pay extra attention to not fuck up which week is thanksgiving, mother's day, father's day, and especially arbor day.

it was shitty having to clean up after myself and lug my heavy schoolbag on my back, walking home....but after seeing maids doing all of that stuff for kids, and the kids being ungrateful and disrespectful, I kinda think those things should be shitty for my kids, too
