Would you like some Salad Pizza? (Venice, CA)

https://www.abbotspizzaco.com/menu

The crust is coated with an everything bagel seasoning. Then red onion and mozzarella cheese are added before baking. From there the hot pizza is "topped with a thick layer of chopped salad, lemon-olive oil dressing, smothered with fresh California avocados." The owner of Abbot's is from NYC and remembered a pizzeria with a salad pizza when he was a kid which gave him the idea.

im so hungry. i would so take 3 bites of that.

Ram27 04-16-2019 12:36 AM

i like how they've alienated the target market for both salads and pizza

although avocado on a pizza sounds like it could be great.

qwerty sp 04-16-2019 05:34 AM

I like ‘Perfect’ by Smashing Pumpkins

The video has pizza in it right?

FoolofaTook 04-16-2019 12:03 PM

Hell yeah that pizza looks bomb.

the more veggies the better.

topleybird 04-16-2019 12:13 PM

One of the best pizzas I ever had was this complete betrayal of pizza called like the Mexican Special or something

So I would for sure try this abomination

ilikeplanets 04-16-2019 01:28 PM

yeah man, looks good

Alice 04-16-2019 02:06 PM

It looks like too much avocado but sure I'll try a piece

duovamp 04-16-2019 02:54 PM

You can’t just toss some shit on bread and call it a pizza. There are rules.

Disco King 04-16-2019 03:19 PM

So you're telling me I can't just call it a "peanut butter and jam pizza" if I want?

Disco King 04-16-2019 03:20 PM

What if I only use the bottom bread slice? It's clearly no longer a sandwich then. It could be a pizza.

topleybird 04-16-2019 03:45 PM

You can only call it that if it's made in Pizza, Italy and certified by their board of trustees

Technically everything else is a "baked flavor pie"

vixnix 04-16-2019 04:49 PM

We ate pizza a couple of times in Naples and both times my husband ordered a bunch of crap on his, while I played by the rules and had Original Recipe, and these places seemed happy to make both. So maybe the rules are a little flexible anyway.

Avocado makes me vomit but I’d give this a try. I used to eat a lot of vegan pizza after all. Just don’t put kale on it

vixnix 04-16-2019 04:51 PM

I used to make vegan pizza with little dabs of hummus instead of cheese, and a generous drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt over the top. It wasn’t too bad.

duovamp 04-16-2019 07:47 PM

It’s my life goal to never visit Naples.

MyOneAndOnly 04-16-2019 08:23 PM

Detroit Pizza or STFU

cork_soaker 04-16-2019 08:40 PM

ah, venice

cork_soaker 04-16-2019 08:43 PM

salad

cork_soaker 04-16-2019 08:47 PM

“ah venice salad,” amazingly, is anagrammatic of “delicious h. leaves”

cork_soaker 04-16-2019 08:48 PM

and i’ve gone and squandered yet another choice indiana jones reference

FoolofaTook 04-16-2019 08:55 PM

none of your pizzas got nothing on a korean kimchi pizza

Mals Marola 04-16-2019 09:25 PM

nice try, fool

FoolofaTook 04-16-2019 09:36 PM

Nah I ain't playin

its called buchimgae and sometimes they call it korean pancake. it goes well with beer and/or soju.

vixnix 04-17-2019 12:54 AM

Are you talking about kimchi pancake??? That is addictive and goes with anything.

We used to order bibimbaps to be delivered in Singapore, and then I discovered kimchi pancake when I was out with a friend, so we started ordering in bibimbaps AND kimchi pancake. Omg so delicious and fattening. We processed through the gates of Weight Gain City, small pieces of semi-fermented, chilli-laden wombok cabbage stuck to our faces

vixnix 04-17-2019 12:55 AM

I would eat kimchi pizza for sure

vixnix 04-17-2019 12:55 AM

I don’t know if it would be good, but I would be keen to try

in korea they always called it korean pizza for some reason.

The unusually heavy rainfall in Las Vegas this year has lead to swarms of grasshoppers infesting the city so a local pizzeria has introduced a grasshopper pizza.

FoolofaTook 08-01-2019 10:49 AM

"A Pizza Approved by John the Baptist"

FoolofaTook 08-01-2019 10:49 AM

I gotta say, chorizo/goat cheese/caramelized onions/arugula sounds like a lovely pie, and it looks like they've chopped the hell out of the bugs

Owner has also clarified, if this helps, that the grasshoppers on the pizza are food-grade from a local vendor and are not just, like, scooped up off the lawn and dusted off

I am not in favor of crunching through a carapace but I… I might actually try this

MplsTaper 08-01-2019 12:17 PM

I tried the salad pizza one of the last times I was in CA and it was really good. I would try a slice of the grasshopper pizza.

The same Vegas pizzeria also offers rattlesnake sausage as a topping which is probably just pork sausage with a little bit of rattlesnake cut in (similar to the touristy "reindeer sausage" in Alaska).

FoolofaTook 08-01-2019 12:43 PM

I like my pizzas topped with the eldritch hearts of eldritch megalothons.

FoolofaTook 08-01-2019 12:46 PM

Vegetarian or Edenic pizzas are pretty yummy too.

I can't really defend that one
