A, a throne of swords, huh?
[Audience laughs] S-sounds like, uh, sounds like [more laughter] my toilet after [cheering] T-Taco Bell [standing ovation, screaming] |
Episode delivers
|
thousands and thousands of butchered dead and casualties, and yet nearly no significant character has come out of the war with more than a few scratches. it's a miracle!
|
Epic awesome episode
|
Awful!
Epic! Horrible! Amazing! |

This was like every crappy superhero blockbuster in its laziness and crudeness. And the battle itself was boring. |

Duo I am with you on the plot armor. Theon gets his nice little redemptive arc and the spellsword guy who already died a bunch actually dies but otherwise like nobody else died. There were about 4 times where I though Jamie, Sam, and Briene died but then they kept fighting. Jon, too. The only death with any weight was Jora. Is this the same show with the red wedding? After 7 seasons of building up to this, there weren't any real deaths... like I'm glad there weren't but it feels cheap.
Meanwhile every Dothraki gets wiped out in about 20 seconds? That is some disproportionate dying... thousands of nobodies but not one main character. Scene was powerful but it really points out the plot armor. Not to mention the trope where the brown people get killed in the first act. Like literally all of them. |
I was immediately like “Was that operation Human Shield?!”
No better way to have the plot concisely dispose of those dark people who won’t integrate with the Northmen. “There, one less thing to sort out.” Thanks, lazy writers. |

what is a significant character? The war has lasted 7 seasons. They killed of a third of the remaining cast in one episode. https://deathtimeline.com/ The entire Mormont familly has been wiped out. Only three Lannisters are still alive. Only 4 Starks are left. I think Sam is the only Watcher left. The biggest villain of the Series is dead. Here's a 36 min video showing everyone Araya has killed with her bare hands |
|
^says you. I think it's awesome
|
I agree, it is a fucking awesome show. Last season felt sort of rushed and very different from the first 6, but it wasn't bad. Can't blame D&D for GRRM not writing more source material...
so can we confirm that the Night King was Arya's first blue-eyed kill or is that just fans thinking too much? |
The writing got really bad around season 6 where show length obligations made characters do unreasonable things with the help of tremendous deus ex machina. Cheap lame solutions and reasons were forced into characters.
The more it deviates from the books the more the writing mimicked a trashy blockbuster movie’s rather than actual reasonable decisions in characters’ best interests. |
Prediction:
Sansa will sit on the iron throne Arya will kill Deanerys |

The writers for this show have nothing but contempt for their audience. Every scene with Euron is trash. And of course he was on a boat and landed his first shot with a ballista. Dumb. Why did Missandei even get captured? These writers really enjoy disposable brown characters.
|
After episode 4, I see exactly what you're talking about. Euron is indeed pure garbage. He's essentially a Marvel villain in his lack of depth. Except Thanos had more depth.
The battle was rushed and bullshit. Once again we have 8 seasons of building up an insurmountable force only for it to be killed without so much as a slight acknowledgement. Oh another dragon died, the Night King died, no one cares. It's all so rushed and it makes me sad. |

imo it has been nearly equally as bad for at least the past two or three seasons. it was just a bit more subtle and veiled back then. but then again, you still have the action hero crowd saying it's awesome. just kinda lol to me (not a pot shot at anyone in particular itt) |
when all is said and done, in the end of days, when all is logged, catalouged and ordered in summary - GoT will belong in the same drawer as Lost.
|
Lost is better
|
I actually just got Game of Thronsed again, and watched the battle of the dead at winterfell episode. doesn't even seem like the same universe as the first season
|
At the very least, the books’ characters have reasons for doing things. And the foreshadowing makes sense later. There is now none of that in the show.
