vixnix 02-12-2019 07:46 AM

Go vape your cinnamon sugar spray and post shit to Instagram, the social media platform of the most vapid and soulless of all humans

Very vapid vapers

That could be in an ABC book for children of millenials

Complaining about house prices while you eat smashed avocado on toast everyday and spend half your income on tattoos and piercings and haircuts

Crybabies! That’s what you are. Decorated, sparkly, avocado smeared crybabies

Flex time, work from home, touch my feelings and feel my story, crybabies

You don’t want to work unless the job touches you inside and makes you feel alive

So until then you’ll live at home and let your parents pay the bills

Bad

Very bad

Elphenor 02-12-2019 02:36 PM

ok

FoolofaTook 02-12-2019 02:47 PM

what do you do for a living, vixnix? (Horse riding lessons and $3,000 beauty treatments don't count.)

ilikeplanets 02-12-2019 04:50 PM

It's hard enough being a mother and housemaiden, I can't imagine piling on top of that the stress of being stuck with some whiny man I didn't find attractive 100% of the time. Unless he was rich.

ilikeplanets 02-12-2019 04:51 PM

Can one be both a mother and a maiden? Because that's how I self-identify.

Careful. Some people take umbrage with the idea that people want to be with others to whom they are (gasp) attracted.

Not being an incorporeal ascetic thought-being with no carnal motivations, to some people, is synonymous with being "shallow."

Disco King 02-12-2019 05:12 PM

I mean, if superficial qualities take precedence over the stuff on the inside, yeah, that's terrible and shallow. But simply having them be part of the overall criteria, weighted less than the personality stuff and values, is fine, IMO. It's not a sufficient condition, it might not even be necessary in some cases, but most people would prefer the criteria to be satisfied, even if we're not allowed to admit it.

ilikeplanets 02-12-2019 05:38 PM

i was married. you grow to hate the stuff on the inside a lot of the time.

ilikeplanets 02-12-2019 05:42 PM

for clarity though: i meant "attractive" to in.clude both personality AND looks. maybe i should have said "tolerable" or "acceptable"....teehee

Shallowed 02-12-2019 06:31 PM

I'm really sorry that you had to sacrifice a lot to get to where you are, but maybe rather than lashing out at millennials who have nothing to do with your hardship, making meaningless and irrelevant generalisations about them, and chastising them for not wanting to go through the same hardships that you personally happened to face, you should point the finger at the actual circumstances that led you to and put you in that hardship.

Shallowed 02-12-2019 06:32 PM

I mean

rent is so high because of capitalist greedy landlords, that's why i can't save for a deposit

also I want to live in a downtown suburb so that I am walking distance from the organic supermarket where I buy my raw cacao and coconut aminos.

Mals Marola 02-12-2019 07:02 PM

goodluck with that

Disco King 02-12-2019 07:05 PM

I thought we established that it's the baby boomers and Gen X that were terrible and have ruined shit for millennials.

I've heard that men only leave a marriage when they have another partner already, and that women leave when they're unhappy. And that it's usually the woman in a heterosexual relationship, who chooses to separate.

I've also heard that married men live longer than single men...but that single women live longer than married women.

So I think you are part of a large group of women who feel the same way - they ran the numbers, and the marriage wasn't worth it.

I have threatened to walk out many times...I think the first 10 years of raising kids together is the hardest. It feels easier now, and the idea of us driving a sensible toyota corolla to watch our kids play cricket on a saturday morning, and saving up for our retirement together, and going to Friday evening organ recitals at the cathedral because they're free and the kids are old enough to stay at home by themselves...it all seems less depressing now, than it did five years ago. It was hard to look forward to anything, then - everything was so hard, and we were constantly fighting.

I can't imagine navigating my way through a blended family situation, and I'm very grateful I don't have to do that, at the moment. I have a few friends who five years back, were 'happily' married and who are now divorced and living with partners and dealing with step child/step parent dynamics. It sounds hard.

But you are an only child, and so is your daughter. So even if you do nothing, you'll inherit your parents estate when they die, and she'll inherit it from you. You're not a maiden in that sense...more like an heiress :P

ol muggins here is one of three children and has two kids to think about. If I don't save for my retirement, my kids will have to pay for me. That is a terrifying and shitty thought. :( I'd sacrifice just about anything, including being alive, to spare them that burden.
