My dad used to take me fishing

If we get in a fight he reminds me about fishing, like how can i criticize a man who took me fishing. So fishing in my worlds become the thing a man can do with his son to buy the right to treat his son however he wants afterward (fist that dumb son right up the ass of his self-of-steam, even) like fishing is the get out of jail/bank error in your favor for all time

My dad used to love fishing, and would take me along because I guess he wanted *his* dad to take him fishing when he was a kid. "You're so ungrateful! I would've LOVED this"

He yelled at me for reading a book rather than watching the rods once -and it never occurred to him that maybe he should be paying attention to *my* interests, rather than the other way around.

I fucking hate fishing.

my Dad didn't take me fishing, but he did take me to astronomy lectures and piano competitions and then make it clear to me that he was ashamed of me, for not paying attention.
