I have seen the musical performed on TV and it is good. The 2012 movie of the musical is, in my humble opinion, fucking horrible and really difficult to get through. Anne Hathaway is so amazing though she honestly gives one of the most powerful performances I have ever seen. My advice, watch until her song, then she's gone for the rest of the movie and you can stop watching. If you get to the part where Sacha Baron Cohen chops off the cat's tail, you've gone too far.

Or better yet, just watch Anne Hathaway sing I Dreamed A Dream on youtube and don't watch the movie at all
