A soft foldin' bed, the cover all right back

That's some nice music man. I gotta stop digging into some of the pre-50's music. It's really quite the time-capsule.

slunken 04-13-2018 10:16 PM

my point was that most of the pre-war country blues music is raunchy as fuck and its all about god, sex, booze, and murder

guitar and/or banjo was considered the devils music even in the 10's and 20s and 30s

redbreegull 04-13-2018 10:23 PM

fuzzy is schrodinger's douchebag

fuzzyroes 04-13-2018 10:25 PM

@Slunk: I suppose that's true... But it was more about acting out in violence after having your heart broken by another man, not acting out in violence because of some mindless gang activity or other perceived personal slights. Blues seemed to be more about the aching heart.

The bottom line is that you can find similarities in any kind of music. Arguing about the semantics can have one running around in circles because it's possible to be right and wrong at the same time. These pieces of art aren't black and white. RBG especially seems to talk about the arts in such a sensational way though. I mean hell, tell anyone over 40 that Rap is the most important form of music in the history of music and they'd laugh in his face.

fuzzyroes 04-13-2018 10:41 PM

Let me bring all of your attention to the group N.W.A. These guys are known as the "Beatles of rap".

Just look at this misogynistic content. This stuff makes Axl Rose look like a choir boy. I cant believe RBG can stand behind such awful smut

N.W.A. Lyrics
"A Bitch Iz A Bitch"

[Narrator:]
Let's describe a certain female. A female with the disease of character and attitude. If you will, a snob. However, in the view of NWA...

[Ice Cube:]
A bitch is a bitch (bitch)
So if I'm poor or rich (word up)
I talk in the exact same pitch
Now, the title bitch don't apply to all women
But all women have a little bitch in 'em (yeah)
It's like a disease that plagues their character
Takin' the women of America (yeah)
And it starts with the letter B
It makes a girl like that think she better than me (bitch)
See, some get mad and some just bear it
But, yo, if the shoe fits wear it (wear it)
It makes 'em go deaf in the ear
That's why when you say 'Hi' she won't say 'Hi'
Are you the kind that think you're too damn fly?
Bitch eat shit 'n die (ha, ha)
Ice Cube comin' at you at a crazy pitch
(Why?) I think a bitch is a bitch

'Who the fuck you think you're callin' a bitch you little sorry muthafucka?
I dunno who the fuck you think you're talkin' to. Let me tell you one
Motherfuckin' thang, I'm not a... ' [Eazy E] 'Bitch, shut the fuck up.'

Yo, you can tell a girl that's out for the money (How?)
She look good and the bitch walk funny
She ain't no dummy she's rather conniving
Yo, bitch fuck what I'm driving
See a young nigga that's striving
You're thru' without a BMW
That's why a bitch is a bitch
I guess, or either P-M-S
Here, test the girl that's kinda snobby (a'ight)
And I bet you dissing niggas is her hobby
And after she finished the test
Write today a B-I-T-C-H
And watch her get mad 'cause she know it's true (she know it)
But a nigga like me, I say, 'Fuck you.'
Do like Ice Cube, slam her ass in a ditch (slam her ass)
'Cause a bitch is a bitch

'Why I gonna be a bitch? '
'I ain't call you no bitch. If you'd listen to a goddamn song it'd tell
You what a bitch is.'
'Fuck the song 'cause I'm not no motherfuckin' bitch.'
'I didn't say you was a bitch.' ( If you stop acting like a goddamn bitch )
'Fuck you, punk-ass nigga!'
'Fuck you, bitch! You sloppy-ass, scandalous-ass ho!
'Fuck you, bitch!
'Fuck you! Who the fuck you think you are?
'Fuck you! Suck my dick, bitch!
Ol' scandalous ass DooDoo dog breath smoking ugly ....

I once knew a bitch who got slapped
'Cause she played me like she was all that
A bitch can be your best friend talking behind your back (yeah)
About who's fucking who and who's getting fat
Look at yourself for me, (look bitch)
Now do you fall in this category?
Or you're the kind that won't blink
'Cause you don't think, yo, shit stinks
Luckily I haven't had a drink
'Cause I'll down yo ass
Than I'll clown yo ass
'Cause the niggas I hang with ain't rich (I ain't rich)
We'll all say 'Fuck you bitch!' (Word up!)
Now, what can I do with a hoe like you
Bend yo ass over then I'm thru'
'Cause that you see Ice Cube ain't takin' no shit
(Why?) 'Cause I think a bitch is a bitch

[Narrator:]
There you have it. The description of a bitch. Now ask yourself,
Are they talking about you? Are you that funky, dirty, money-hungry,
Scandalous, stuck-up, hair piece contact wearing bitch? Yep, you
Probably are.

Bitch

idiocy. "you can find similarities in any blah blah wahh waahh"

rock and rap have common roots you only have to go back to the 50s and 60s to see. we're not drawing abstract links between 8th century English friary chants with tibetan throat singing here. These are two popular music genres with a common ancestor younger than my grandparents

you ever listen to Gil Scott Heron, the godfather of hip hop? You likely wouldn't recognize him as a progenitor of the genre though because YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT

fuzzyroes 04-13-2018 10:51 PM

Listen RBG, you can talk all you want about HOW rap was created, but there's no denying the cancerous content in the lyricism and the cancerous influence it has on the impressionable masses . That is the major problem

Here, read this, it's about an ex-thug talking about how rap influenced him.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/c...05-column.html

He said his introduction to rap music came from artists such as Poor Righteous Teachers, X Clan and Queen Latifah, who were socially conscious. But their music later got drowned out by the more exploitative, gangsta rap that N.W.A., the Geto Boys and Scarface performed.

"I remember listening to N.W.A. and they were singing '(F-word) Tha Police,' and I became somebody who believed in that kind of language, and low-grading women and calling them out of their names," Brown said. "When I shot people, the first thing I did was put on a record."

He said he listened to Scarface's "Diary of a Madman:"

Dear diary today I hit (an N-word) with the torch / Shot him on his face and watched him die on his front porch / Left his family heartbroken / Flashbacks of him laying there bleeding with his eyes open

Makes me sick to read that sort of stuff.

RBG, are you now beginning to see why I dislike this type of music? It has nothing to do with racism.

Nah man. Rap sucks and I'm proud to shout it out loud. Most of the people I hang out with think rap sucks too.

I think you're grossly overestimating it's importance.

fuzzyroes 04-13-2018 11:09 PM

Nah man. I'm proud about my stance on rap. I say the same things in real life and people are always agreeing with me. You're just too sensitive RBG... You wanna portray yourself as the ultimate "modern man" and you just come across as lifeless and limp.

fuzzyroes 04-13-2018 11:39 PM

Speak your mind, give your honest feelings on art. People will respect that more than being a scared man, desperately trying to tow the social norms line.

you're honestly too stupid to understand how shameful and embarrassing you come off to others. no one here is shocked to learn your friends are as stupid as you are, either

redbreegull 04-13-2018 11:40 PM

here I am, the "modern man"

fuzzyroes 04-13-2018 11:41 PM

Women like a man who's decisive. A man who knows what he likes. No one respects a guy who says "I like a little bit of everything!"

Elph, you're with me on this aren't you? Don't you hate when you're talking to a young lady, and you ask her about what kind of music she likes and she says "ummm... I like a little bit of everything"

Fuck that noise!

I'm embarrassing cause I think rap is garbage? It's my own opinion. It's a free country. Get over it. You can go listen to your "Slim Shady" records all you like, and I'm free to think you're an idiot for doing so.

I'm a guitar man. I don't have no time for "hip-hop"... You know a genre of music is going to suck when the word "hip" is right in the title. I mean, please... Gimme a break.

You're absolutely sure that different women don't like different things?
