PC Culture really has runk amok (video proof inside)

I bought Season 2 of the Office awhile back and was binge watching it the other night and it was littered full of material that would send RBG flying through the rafters.

This hilarious scene was only 12 years ago... If it was on NBC today it would make all of the Social Justice Warriors bonkers

if netphoria was GTA, this thread is fuzzy running around and shooting/mauling civilians in the streets. i expect we should see a four-star angry wave of redbreegull police shortly.

I love the Office. I haven't watched it in years though. I actually picked up the Season 2 box-set new at Dollerama for 3$. It was sitting around my room for like 6 months before I opened it and I just binge watched it, and it really does showcase a ton of humor that would absolutely not be tolerated today.

One whole episode is about sexual harassment in the work place and Michael Scotts just freaking out, angry as hell that they're putting these rules into place. None of it's really offensive, cause the audience is in on the joke that Michael Scotts just a total idiot, but a lot of the humor would certainly be outlawed in 2018... And I don't really see why. Ignorance should be showcased and made a joke of.

fuzzyroes 01-20-2018 01:23 PM

(for those who think I'm just mindlessly trolling with this topic- I sincerely urge you to watch season 2 of The Office... A few episodes in and you guys will understand exactly what I'm getting at)

It's funny cause I remember D popped in awhile back and he mentioned that he was watching the Office on Netflix and stressed that it "hasn't aged well at all"... I didn't really get what he meant, but it's clear to me now.

So, uh, where's the video evidence, funz?

FlamingGlobes 01-20-2018 02:19 PM

If you're gonna troll the board and get yourself banned by year's end, you're gonna have to work a little harder than this, I'm afraid.

FoolofaTook 01-20-2018 02:43 PM

The Office is satire fuzzy. The people who had a problem with it before will have a problem with it now.

slunken 01-20-2018 03:21 PM

How does this not come across as anything but satire?

slunken 01-20-2018 03:21 PM

let me guess, SATIRICAL RACISM IS STILL RACISM

redbreegull 01-20-2018 03:24 PM

you have to complete 12th grade before you unlock the understanding irony and satire achievement

I always think of this as the South Park effect. being terrible in an ironic way can be funny, as long as your audience is smart enough and on the same page as you. But more than likely you are going to wind up with a bunch of 14-year-old white dudes who think think the joke is that racism is a good laugh, not that racists are clowns.

FoolofaTook 01-20-2018 03:32 PM

Yeah Chapelle had a breakdown because of that. Satire is def an extreme form.

slunken 01-20-2018 03:32 PM

I was in a comedy club once and the comedian was setting up this racist experience and a guy in the audience kept going "HELL YEA" at all the wrong moments. It was the hardest I've ever laughed in my entire life.

redbreegull 01-20-2018 03:36 PM

I'm not saying we shouldn't engage in satire... I think satire is one of the most powerful forms of art and criticism when done well and when you have the capacity to understand the message. I'm just saying people like fuzzyroes are why we can't have nice things, and to use his own turn of phrase, why it only takes "one bad apple to ruin the whole bunch"

slunken 01-20-2018 03:38 PM

Comedians aren't modern-day philosophers. They're degenerates who can't hold down a real job.

Chappelle said that he felt some of his sketches were "socially irresponsible". [42][44] He singled out the "pixie sketch" in which pixies appear to people and encourage them to reinforce stereotypes of their races. In the sketch, Chappelle is wearing blackface and is dressed as a character in a minstrel show. [45] According to Chappelle, during the filming of the sketch, a white crew member was laughing in a way that made him feel uncomfortable and made him question himself. [42][44] Chappelle said, "It was the first time I felt that someone was not laughing with me but laughing at me." [42]

This thread title reads like fuzzy is trying to make up for TOC's absence.

this makes me sad because a lot of south park can be funny. i didn't realize people thought they were seriously condoning racism. then again i don't know a single 14 year old.

LaBelle 01-20-2018 04:47 PM

I made a bad joke and then thought better about it and changed my mind this is the message you got instead. sorry.

ilikeplanets 01-20-2018 04:49 PM

Then why do you complain so much when we mock you?

LaBelle 01-20-2018 07:41 PM

smashingjj 01-20-2018 09:46 PM

'jim halpart' s whole role was looking into the camera when someone else said something

smashingjj 01-20-2018 09:46 PM

I can't get over how much this show sucks compared to the original

smashingjj 01-20-2018 09:46 PM

was there already ever a discussion on which The Office was the best? naaaah

buzzard 01-20-2018 10:52 PM

Cancer upon anybody that even likes the US version, much less prefers it.

Rowan: Gareth, quick trust exercise, ultimate fantasy?
Gareth Keenan: Hmm?
David: We're just doing the ultimate fantasy, we're all doing it.
Gareth: Two lesbians probably, sisters. I'm just watching.
