Goddamn DST

Fuck this shit. END IT!

MyOneAndOnly 03-12-2017 10:01 AM

I had insomnia last night. I was awake in bed for 6 hours. Finally fell asleep and I woke up to have lost an hour of time AND most of a night's sleep.

FlamingGlobes 03-12-2017 11:59 AM

Yeah

i woke up this morning and i was glad because i wanted to chill and have coffee with tim before getting ready at 8 to leave at 8:45. within five minutes i realized it was close to 8 so i tried to con. but the upside is i can pretend i went to work early and getting off early, too!

Shallowed 03-12-2017 05:04 PM

If you were a tr00 insomniac, you wouldn't have slept at all.

Fucking pussy.

Run To Me 03-12-2017 07:40 PM

I just stayed up all night getting my ass kicked at Demons Souls

Now ready to go to sleep right at dinnertime yay

FlamingGlobes 03-13-2017 07:04 PM

I slept like ass last night. Gonna go ahead and blame the time change.

FlamingGlobes 03-13-2017 07:05 PM

Good news is, we're getting a Nor'easter tomorrow, so I likely will get a day (and maybe a half) off out of it.

vixnix 03-13-2017 07:38 PM

Everything sucks

buzzard 03-13-2017 07:50 PM

Were you struck by a hailstone?

Set upon by rats in Hyde Park?

buzzard 03-13-2017 07:51 PM

No, wait. You experienced a geographical epiphany, didn't you?

vixnix 03-13-2017 07:57 PM

no, just more bloody rain and heat

very ugly weather

so sick of everything being wet and gross.

Hey, how shitty was your visit? Did it meet your expectations??

I saw more rats per second in Sydney's Hyde Park than in all my time in NYC

vixnix 03-13-2017 08:04 PM

I saw a rat run across our driveway last week. away from our bins. gotta stick some rat poison in there.

the rats at least stay outside. it's the cockroaches that really make themselves my enemy by venturing inside. Every year I kill half a dozen before the bait stations kick in. I spray them with just enough mortein to ensure death and then watch them die slowly and in pain

And ants. I use bleach on those. Repeatedly. Until they stop coming in.

fucking Sydney

LaBelle 03-13-2017 08:05 PM

I get the occasional roach here and it is always a harrowing experience

We have flying roaches sometimes too. One time one flew in and landed on my shirt.
I almost died.

vixnix 03-13-2017 08:11 PM

Sydney's hard because it's so shitty in so many ways, but on Saturday night both my kids and my husband were away at band camp and the education my kids are getting at their north shore school is second to none, and it's a free government school.

So my brother and I parked at Cremorne Point wharf so he could use his new camera to take a few night photos of the harbour and then we rode the ferry for a while, and went for a walk around circular quay.

At all the little ferry terminals on the north side of the water, a dozen or more people had gathered to fish. There were families there with little children, fishing until midnight, when the last ferry sailed and the lights in the terminal went out.

It was so still and the full moon was reflected on the water. Sydney is like death to the soul because it's so naturally beautiful, and so interesting sometimes.

but then the weather, and the shitty vermin, and the fucking stockbrokers and general finance dickheads and mothers dressed in prada just make me want to kill myself

hope your beer fridge is stocked. I'd go ahead and tempt fate and crack one or twenty.

Tempting, but I'll probably just drink coffee and watch Netflix.

Snow day for us too. Mario Kart and a good breakfast is on the agenda

See you on the tracks. :D

But seriously, if you're on tomorrow afternoon...

ohnoitsbonnie 03-13-2017 08:46 PM

It was reasonably enjoyable at certain points, though quite obviously the wrong time of year for it. Unless I've just been released from solitary confinement in an experimental sauna prison, I'll be delaying any future visits by a month.

That whole thing where you're compelled to swim within the less-than-generous netting at beaches in northern Queensland for fear of deadly jellyfish was kind of fucked and I could say the same for having to cut nature walks short at the crocodile warning signs. Seeing massive bats in the central business districts of both Cairns and Sydney was interesting, though.

P.S. Dining at Dumplings & Beer in Darlinghurst was a personal highlight, with the Peking Duck-inspired bao taking out the award for best menu item.

vixnix 03-14-2017 06:50 AM

Sounds about right. God, Queensland. Not sure I'll ever go. Sydney's bad enough.

FoolofaTook 03-14-2017 06:55 AM

Have you ever been to Botany Bay?

yo soy el mejor 03-14-2017 02:08 PM

sounds lovely.

ugh. i thankfully live in a country where all nature and wildlife has been eradicated completely. i saw an insect twice in my life, both times I called the police immediately.

Trotskilicious 03-14-2017 03:52 PM

my house is a lizard sanctuary

That is because your mind has been taken over by the satanic pedolizard hillarevil hivemind

Actually no, never. Unless you count the airport, I've been there obviously.
