In my day, "emoticon" referred to both the ASCII symbols and the images.

Emojis are the best.

Broadly, I think emoticons are ascii text and emojis are images without corresponding text equivalents. That's kinda arbitrary because there were some of those before "emojis" were ever a thing, but I think that's the way they're looked at now.

I like them both, I guess. I'm old so I'm partial to emoticons but the vast amount of emojis is incredible. Pretty soon we will have conversations in purely emojis. I'm sure some people already do. It's the real newspeak.

People like Scotty is why I quite Facebook. Just an endless supply of memes. I doubt he has an original thought in his head. Just constantly reposting garbage and picking and choosing what funny photos he decides to use as an ideology or personality.

Given his age, I guess it's a wonder he's even able to navigate the landscape.
