But Help will be always my fav. <3

I recognize Sgt Peppers artistic achievement for sure but they have albums I like a lot more. Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, White Album, Revolver and Magical Mystery are better to me than Sgt. Pepper

man that's a hard one, sgt. peppers is just so polished and perfect that it's great. but yeah I can understand each of the ones you put up there. Abbey Road is the perfect ending, especially that long progression of songs to close, white album is what most hardcore fans go with (I think) mainly because it has the most songs of any album. Revolver might be your strongest candidate. It really is the most diverse beatles album and it bridges early/late beatles and it is their first truly "mature" album. Magical Mystery is like Sgt. Peppers pt. 2 so yeah it pwns.

but Help is my fav forever, probably because it is the first one I heard.

Love,
Jonny

regardless you would be very hard pressed to find another group with a string of albums as staggeringly fantastic as Rubber Soul –> Revolver –> Sgt. Pepper –> Magical Mystery –> White Album –> Let it Be –> Abbey Road

that's kind of amazing and possibly the result of witchcraft

redbreegull 01-17-2017 09:28 PM

I actually just found out today that Magical Mystery Tour wasn't released as a full EP in the UK until 1976.

FoolofaTook 01-17-2017 09:30 PM

Wow yeah that's incredible. Only I would add Help before Rubber Soul.

You got fav beatles songs? Here are mine.

John: Tomorrow Never Knows
Paul: Yesterday
George: Something
Ringo: lol ok

FoolofaTook 01-17-2017 09:32 PM

How do you feel about early beatles? I know there are some bad songs and they all talk about the same goddamn thing (females) but holy shit what vigor! What mellifluous vibrancy! Hard days night and beatles for sale are sooo good.

I like early Beatles and you can sort of see the genius shining through the cracks, but a lot of it sounds quite stale. Vigor and vibrancy are right though, I think their energy, especially live, was a big part of what set them apart from and above their peers.

yeah I meant LP. It was originally released as 2 EPs in the UK. In the US, Capitol released those EPs plus the '67 singles as one LP, and that is the album we now know as MMT. Super interesting, never realized that album was a creation of the American record company

redbreegull 01-17-2017 09:58 PM

I don't really have favorites... I mean I do but it would be a huge list of songs I can't decide between. I used to be partial to John's songs but as I get older I like Paul more as a superior musician and craftsman of songs. poor george wasn't allowed to spread his wings until the band folded, but All Things Must Pass is the best solo album by any Beatle no competition.

redbreegull 01-17-2017 09:59 PM

also John Lennon was kind of an incredible asshole

crabshack 01-17-2017 10:00 PM

george>john>paul>ringo

JESUSNEEDSAHIT 01-17-2017 10:45 PM

george martin > the beatles

reprise85 01-17-2017 11:31 PM

revolver is the best beatles album

reprise85 01-17-2017 11:37 PM

I agree with RBG that Paul was the best songwriter overall, even though he was also the most sorta sappy and Lennon is the cool one to like but songs like Eleanor Rigby and Blackbird are just the best kinds of beatles songs without question

reprise85 01-17-2017 11:41 PM

Best Harrison is probably... Taxman or Here Comes The Sun

My Lennon pick is Happiness is a Warm Gun

reprise85 01-17-2017 11:42 PM

damn it's beatles listening time

fuzzyroes 01-18-2017 12:16 AM

Ringo was the coolest followed by George

Let It Be Naked is so much better than the original.

particularly the titular song. the guitar solo in this version is visceral

FoolofaTook 01-18-2017 01:36 AM

Crackshat hit the head on the nail. george>john>paul>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ringo.

and reprise when i forget sgt peppers exist and my love for help yeah revolver is the best. i think most critics would go with that one or abbey road.

rbg i had no idea mmt was two eps. that's cool. Where they tied to lead singles?

Do you guys like the Past Masters? Don't Let Me Down is one of my favs.

Oh and now that were gushing over the beatles i remeber reading somewhere that darcys fav beatles song was I've got a feeling (let it be). That song is fucking heavy. macca could bust out with some intense shit like helter skelter and she's so heavy. god what a band.

redbreegull 01-18-2017 01:44 AM

rocky raccoon checked into his room
only to find gideon's bible

FoolofaTook 01-18-2017 01:55 AM

I dunno man about that naked let it be. the long and winding road just isn't the same.

o and can we all agree that the worst thing to come of the beatles was oasis?
