What's the deal with the arena/stadium names in America?
 

You look at some of the most well-known, noteworthy venues around America and the names are utterly hilarious.

You look at the prized world-champion Cleveland Cavilers and their home at the Quicken Loans Arena or how about where the NCAA basketball team the San Diego Toreos play? THE JENNY CRAIG PAVILION

That's not to mention the White Sox playing at Guaranteed Rate Field
or the Smoothie King! Center for the New Orleans Pelicans

I mean dear god. Do you yankees have no shame!? :rofl:

just kidding. But some of these names, good grief.

Oh man I forgot The Jobing.com Arena where the NHL team Arizona Coyotes played.

Out where I live in BC Canada the biggest venue for concert acts and our football team is called BC place and our hockey team plays at Rogers arena (Rogers is the big cable conglomerate in Canada but it does have a more dignified ring to it than the Smoothie King arena)

The other big BC arena: The Pne forum- meaning the Pacific National Exhibition... Our yearly fair.

I love America to death but it seems like they'll corporatize and make a buck off of anything regardless of it being in awful taste or not

Taco Bell Arena for the Boise State basketball team

Like contributing to climate change or poisoning water and air with heavy metals.

Rather than put huge Chevrolet or Qatar Airways logos on jerseys, stadia sell names. It works out okay I guess.

I mean back in the day there was always big stadiums that would license their names out to major players like the Pepsi Center and Ford Field but now there's no standars.

Only 20 years or so ago you had famous ballparks and stadiums called The Sky-Dome, Candle-Stick park, Olympic stadium etc etc but now almost every name is 100% corporate. They do enough advertising around the stadium and with commercials and everything. I think it just ruins the mystic with this Quicken Loans arena nonsense
