Orange is the New Black season 4

WARNING: THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD

Anyone watching or finished watching? The beginning of the season was meeeehhhh but the last few episode pulled that shit out

Mooney 06-26-2016 10:02 PM

it just seemed like it was biding its time the whole way through...then a death. which didn't make sense. a tiny person having a knee on their back for a minute or two isn't going to kill them.

slunken 06-26-2016 10:03 PM

i feel like the entire season escalated nicely

Mooney 06-26-2016 10:09 PM

no one is allowed to like this show anymore because they killed off a black lesbian. which is not allowed on television

i would love to have a real conversation w/out anyone dictating it except for the two people having it

one can dream

I raced through all the stages of grief in five seconds flat: denial, frantic Googling, anger, vaguebooking, depression, and finally I arrived at the final stage, known as Fuck This Shit.

“Well, I’m not going to watch it,” I replied.

That quickly and that easily, I walked away from what has been one of my favorite television shows since 2013. And judging from my Facebook and Twitter feeds, I made the right choice by not subjecting myself to this season, which, by all accounts, hit a new low of trauma voyeurism.
this is the trending opinion so it doesn't matter

i know this is a dumb example, but i'm so tired of people using the internet to read what their opinions "should be" instead of actually having real thoughts and emotions

honestly the death was yeah pretty dumb how they did it

however the stuff around it, like the entire prison doing the protest and then after the death and no one being held accountable them rioting

and the subplot with Lolly and Healy was really good, I thought. and it was nice that Piper got what was coming to her and it woke her up.

i found it weird that nikki was shown getting her 3 year chip but haven't we seen her use drugs over and over and the whole show has taken place in less than a year real time? que?

the whole show imo is trying to show the ridiculousness of the vast majority of these women being in prison at all and how they handle being treated as subhuman. and as the seasons go on the guards become more and more persecutory and you have this contrived condition that brings out the worst in all parties.

i didn't finish season 3 because it really seemed much worse quality than 1 and 2.

but i watched 4 because i am a fan of the actor who plays humphreys and wanted to see him. i felt eipisode 12 was so sad and episode 13 was really well done. the way they made it be about a really nice night in her life.

i like how the guard that killed her wasn't one of the ones you're supposed to hate, he was very humanized, it made the thing more complicated.

there is a relatively well known person i followed on twitter who was going off saying that they didn't have a right to do this storyline because there were no black writers on the staff, and i found that so absurd. everyone is allowed to care about and be upset by this happening in real life.

and i agree with you reprise, showing the ways they're treated as subhuman is one of the main points of the show, and how the system corrupts everyone in it.

i like that tough old bird with the neck tattoo who was so matter of fact about disposing of the body

reprise85 06-27-2016 12:23 AM

yeah i like her too. do we know anything about her background?

i was going to say that surely the prison could figure that out with the timing of her pregnancy but then again she had sex with pornstache like weeks or months after getting pregnant with bennett and that never came up

MyOneAndOnly 06-27-2016 06:57 AM

They pulled a Whedon

But they also used the death to show how indiscriminate, impersonal and pointless the prison system is. It denegrates not just the people sentenced to it, bit the administrators and guards as well.
