Rogue One, A Star Wars Story

It's happening!

Here's the first trailer for Rogue One. It looks darker than previous SW films.

Are spoiler warnings even a thing anymore? Highlight for Spoilers below:

Shadow Troopers at 1:08, with Forest Whitaker doing the Star Wars version of Ghost Dog. The actress they got to play Mon Mothma looks just like woman from the original trilogy. There's a quick shot of Imperial Guards, which suggests Emperor Palpatine, and what looks a lot like Vader kneeling. Although, the caped figure in that shot has a hood, which Vader has never worn in any other SW films or comics. I saw several reports stating that it is Vader, but I won't believe it until Lucasfilm confirms it. There was a rumor last year that they'd used a professional wrestler to play vader and James Earl Jones was signed to add his voice. My guess is that if Vader is in the film they'll wait until this summer to reveal him in the next Trailer

Seems like Disney is ruling the world now. There have been rumours that because of WB's last few big-budget films under-performing, they will be making fewer films a year and concentrating on the tentpoles. Like, they're doing Harry Potter spin-offs and the 267th adaptation of The Jungle Book with celebrities as voice actors because of course people have just been crying out for that.

Meanwhile, Disney has Star Wars, Marvel Studios, Pixar... I really feel like this is leading to a dystopian world in which we will all have to wear Mickey Mouse club identification badges.

I just Googled it, didn't realize that there are two adaptations coming out. Disney's The Jungle Book comes out this year, WB's Jungle Book comes out in 2018. Demand for Jungle Book adaptations must be high. We gotta get in on this market. Putting out casting calls for all roles in Netphoria's Jungle Book. Imagine how many more years this domain name could be active for with those box office revenues.

MyOneAndOnly 04-07-2016 08:41 PM

IMO Disney has done a better job of putting people in charge of each of their divisions who understand what will work with each franchise. Whether it's Pixar or Star Wars, it's the people runnign those divisions who are making it successful. People like Kathleen Kennedy have a close relationship with the material they're working with. They care about it and they hire people who care about it.

I couldn't even make it through the trailer without being bored

MyOneAndOnly 04-07-2016 08:48 PM

LaBelle 04-07-2016 08:50 PM

Looks fun, I'll watch it for sure!

buzzard 04-07-2016 09:57 PM

When are they going to reboot Triumph of the Will and cast the guy from Thor as Hitler? My company has already bought up the rights to On The Waterfront, looking to earn when the studios start filling out their shooting schedules for the summer of 2037.

I've also got an adaptation of The Seventh Seal in the pipeline, where my screenplay has an American Marine returning home from a tour in Syria to find the Pacific Southwest hit hard by climate change, the Zika virus, and race riots brought about by an incident of police brutality.

I'm waiting to hear back from Apple about whether or not Death shall be portrayed as wearing Beats by Dre headphones.

buzzard 04-07-2016 10:04 PM

By "Death," I am referring to a religiously neutral psychiatric therapist specializing in post-traumatic stress disorder named Dr. Muerte.

MyOneAndOnly 04-07-2016 11:18 PM

too bad you weren't talking about "Death" cause that would be worth talking about

redbreegull 04-07-2016 11:37 PM

Also needs a robot driving instructor that goes back in time for some reason, and needs to make a heartbreaking decision to make about whether his best friend lives or dies.

Did I mention that his best friend is a talking pie?

Starla 04-08-2016 06:21 AM

Where are the good looking men at? I don't like it so far.

Starla 04-08-2016 06:23 AM

Why isn't this going to pick up where Rey hands Luke the light saber. I don't want to watch this other crap. I want to see other things.

redbreegull 04-08-2016 09:39 AM

I thought this movie was about Wedge Antilles

Also can a mod add the word 'spoilers' to thread title. It's impossible to discuss this film without spoilers
