Best Looking Resorts You'll Never Visit

I'll start. I'd love to take the kids here.

Atlantis Island Resort

But I priced it and for just a few nights, including flights, we'd be paying around $10k. So it will never happen. Plus, you know, it's disgusting to go and holiday at a resort, spending that much money, when ppl are starving and need money, etc. I do believe all of that stuff. So I don't even know how much I would enjoy it.

But still. I mean, wow. Having said that, I've never been to a resort, but from the FB photos I've seen, they actually look like they might be disappointing, and kinda dirty & overpriced.

Anybody else want to journey down this lane of discomfort with me? Ironic and comedic suggestions also welcome.

vixnix 11-10-2015 05:01 PM

srsly no takers?

Dogfighter28 11-10-2015 05:03 PM

Why would you pay for something like that when you can go outside in wonderful places for free

vixnix 11-10-2015 05:04 PM

They have an identical resort in Dubai...that's kind of tacky.

Check this out, underwater suite!

Man some people have some cash to burrrrrn huh. Good grief.

Dogfighter28 11-10-2015 05:05 PM

I want to backpack on Cumberland Island but it books up 6 months in advance for most desirable weekends. There are wild horses, armadillo, owl, venomous snakes, gators, wild hogs, etc. You have to take a ferry to get there and there are minimal amenities once there.

So yeah, fuck resorts. I want an adventure.

vixnix 11-10-2015 05:12 PM

That's a really good point. We went camping once, in a place that's so popular that there's a ballot to get a site. But the place itself only costs $30/night, and that's in peak season. Off-peak, it's even cheaper. But there are white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, and wallabies right on the beach and around the campsite, as well as king parrots (well. and snakes!).

It's here - Greenpatch at Jervis Bay, NSW

I think I'd probably prefer that kind of holiday tbh. I have pretty simple tastes and I'd rather stay in a beautiful location than in a beautiful hotel.

vixnix 10-31-2016 10:40 PM

I can't believe nobody ever commented in this thread.

I have since decided that all hotels are fucking disgusting and I don't really ever want to stay in one again.

There's one in mexico with the biggest pool

redbreegull 10-31-2016 10:43 PM

I've never been to a resort but those places look like they exist in a different world than I do. Would they even let me in? Don't they have standards?

redbreegull 10-31-2016 10:44 PM

the idea of going to a foreign country in order to stay in a white person luxury fort is also weird to me.

keep your hot stone massages and your guy flipping omelets by the pool, just set me walking down a street where I can't understand what anyone is saying

there is a very prevalent subculture in shanghai actually, the great majority of white people in shanghai that i've met, live in expensive, disconnected foreigner forts or parts of the city, basically opting out of feeling anything Chinese at all, since their quasi-european cobblestone streets are littered with french bakeries, italian trattorias, and anything but the actual culture of the place they are living in (while of course paying four/+++ times the amount of money for anything).

i find it a bit repulsive tbqh, like, it has a rich, privileged air of arrogance to it - not even giving a shit as to even attempt embedding yourself in anything but what you know and probably consider superior. but yeah whatever, everybody makes their own choice i guess.

redbreegull 10-31-2016 11:56 PM

my friend who lives in kuala lumpur says the same thing about the white people there

ohnoitsbonnie 11-01-2016 01:49 AM

Ive never really wanted to stay in a resort. I have stayed for a few nights at Mohonk Mountain house on someone else's dime, and I feel like the price was excessive all things considered.
