Chicago dogs are great. But a real Coney is a different thing. A beautiful, sauce covered thing.

it's not the not-funny funnies that piss me off, it's all the glurge and cliched motivational posters, etc.

The exploding boy 09-15-2015 11:33 AM

all this thread is telling me is, no, don't bother going back to FB.

Like i'm pretty sure i can pick non shitty friends (i don't remember anyone posting really dumb shit back when i was on it), but the moment your family starts adding you, you're condemned to a bad feed.

hnibos 09-15-2015 11:37 AM

You can always find your interests and like everything that's posted by them and then your feed is inundated with your interests and the occasional post by a person, which you could block from your feed if you don't want to see what they post. People make Facebook out to be this awful self centered flood of me posts. It doesn't have to be.

So you're saying that instead I could make it a flood of advertisements and clickbait?

hnibos 09-15-2015 11:48 AM

What? Why are your interests considered advertisement and clickbaits?

i also find it helpful not friending every random person i've met or perhaps accidentally brushed a shoulder with in my life like some seem to. kinda cuts down on the unwanted bullshit

Mals Marola 09-15-2015 11:54 AM

that being said the funniest posts/shares on my feed are from this girl i met in a bar once after playin a show & haven't really seen in person since

hnibos 09-15-2015 11:54 AM

Family gets one chance, they post some religious or right wing bullshit, than I block their posts from my newsfeed. That's it. No drama. Takes so very little effort.

my aversion to adding family members stems more from the inevitable atheistic (not preachy, mind you, just an off-handed jesus joke or something) which would no doubt lead to infinite tension at many a christmas party future

i've got a few cousins & whatnot friended on there though they've never really said anything

it ain't easy bein a liberal louisianian!

i thought that you did that for your own feed's sake but when I realized it shows up in others, i guess for ad purposes, i had to stop

you just described twitter, basically

teh b0lly!!1 09-15-2015 09:34 PM

everything that's horribly annoying about facebook put to perfect words

http://waitbutwhy.com/2013/07/7-ways...-facebook.html

Trotskilicious 09-15-2015 09:37 PM

so looks like 99% of facebook is annoying this person

so is that the people on it, you, or the site itself? I'd say a mix of the last two.

Trotskilicious 09-15-2015 09:38 PM

lots of people i know IRL find my humor incredibly annoying, and that's primarily what I do with facebook. present hot takes and jokes

i'm trying to stop posting entirely

hnibos 09-15-2015 10:01 PM

Again, Facebook isn't just for people expressing their emotions

well tbh most of the things people do are annoying. at least to me.
the thing about facebook though is that is distills that behavior and concentrates it so it gets profoundly unbearable. it's like a magnifying glass into the flaws that i already hate about people. not even trying to veil their relentless vanity and self bloating.
i really should just stop fucking reading that shit

i've curated my FB down to where it's pretty smooth sailing; maybe y'all are doing the internet wrong.

D. 09-15-2015 10:59 PM

no but srsly hopefully i don't do any of the annoying things on the list. i mainly post, what, once a day? and i usually try to make it light/funny or maybe a mildly interesting pic of my kid here and there. but then i end up deleting everything i post after like, a day anyway.

Shallowed 09-15-2015 11:27 PM

I'd like to see if there's a list of people and pages that I've blocked or hidden from my timeline. There'd be quite a few on there.
