do you guys peel from the stem? i guess that's backwards or something.

banana slices will amplify a peanut butter and jelly sandwich from "nice" to "fuck yes"

reprise85 03-15-2015 09:39 PM

i peel from the stem, yes

slunken 03-15-2015 09:46 PM

i've tried it the other way and it made me feel like an asshole

Mals Marola 03-16-2015 02:39 AM

mother nature produced the banana to be held like a popsicle w its accompanying stick, so no i do not "peel from the stem" as you say i should be doing

for that matter, i do not eat bananas either

i am a mango man :erm:

:bananamac

sooner or later the Cavendish banana will go extinct and we'll look back on this thread and wished we had done something to save it.

LaBelle 03-16-2015 09:02 AM

I'm doing my part by not eating bananas.

LaBelle 03-16-2015 09:09 AM

Fun fact: Bananas produce one particle of antimatter (positron) every 75 minutes.

Sonic Johnny 03-16-2015 09:20 AM

We haven't forgotten him, he just regenerated doctor who style into the poster called Fuzzyroes. There have been many Bananas, including ******, and tragically there will be more bananas in the future.

Humans have bred bananas to be what they are

A blow to industrial agriculture. There are plenty of other tasty banana cultivars

D. 03-17-2015 09:10 AM

Eat nanners daily. Don't eat from the stem because I am not a caveman.

reprise85 03-17-2015 05:26 PM

Yes.

All Cavendish bananas are clones and therefore have no genetic diversity to resist pests. Problem is that most don't hold up well to travel. The Cavendish can be picked green in the Tropics and ripen at the right time for sale in Northern markets. None of the other cultivars are suited to that supply chain. Those that are close don't have nearly the sweet taste and creamy texture.

that will become industrialized

MyOneAndOnly 03-17-2015 05:34 PM

check out how they "ripen" bananas in pressurized gassing rooms around 1:40

MyOneAndOnly 03-17-2015 05:37 PM

supposedly the Gros Michel was sweeter and tastier, but it's extinct now.
