Avengers Age of Ultron

I'm boycotting Marvel until they agree to just make less movies man for serious this shit is out of hand
|
it'll implode on itself in a few years. probably shortly after ant man
|
I thought Ant-man sounded like a weird idea for a standalone movie (i mean i thought they'd jsut introduce him in one of the avengers films) but when i heard about what they wanted to do with it in pre prod it sounded interesting.
As for the amount of movies they make, well as long as there's some quality.... I hated the first Thor and thought the second was watchable. I also thought the second Captain America was a lot better than the first. So i don't really have complaints right now... The only truly bad live action thing marvel has done recently is Agents of Shield. |
i'm (pleasantly) surprised by how dark the trailer is. but is it indicative of the direction they're going in with this one, or is it misleading?
|
They really are cranking them out, though. As somebody who doesn't hit the theater that often - and if I do, it's rarely for a comic book movie - I'm way behind on these things, even though I have nerd leanings.
Haven't seen any of these yet: Iron Man 3, Wolverine in Japan, Maybe another Wolverine one after that one?, Days of Future Past, Thor 1/2, Captain America 2... yeah. There's a lot. Gonna have to find time to blow thru a few of those without clogging up the Netflix blu-ray queue. |
I need to see gotg already
|
Hulkbuster Iron Man looks p cool.
|
looks good.
wasn't a big fan of the last two iron man movies, but they were watchable. I like the thor flicks. Captain America are the best ones in my opinion. I may like them because they seem more old school action flick based rather than CGI compared to the others. can't seem to get hulk standalone right. I haven't seen the new spiderman movies. Just wait till they reboot all this shit. i think they are rebooting fantastic four. |
they are, wallace from the wire is going to be the human torch
|
Ant Man and Batman vs. Superman are going to be fucking terrible. I agree that once Ant Man bombs critically and commercially there will be a backlash.
|
why is everyone convinced ant man will suck?
batman v superman, sure. But there will be no backlash bad enough to get these studios to reconsider. Ooh one out of ten marvel films bombs, big deal. And besides, read the title of the other one, Batman V superman......this will make money NO MATTER how bad it is. Enough anyway to recoup the cost or close. I do think for DC it's more important though because its supposed to be the start of their big movie projects for the next few years. But Marvel? they'll need quite a few bombs before they reconsider. |
The Hulkbuster armor/fight is by far the coolest looking thing about the new Avengers film so far.
|
Antman will suck because edgar wright is no longe involved
Then again paul rudds charm is not to be underestimated |
good actor is not a substitute for a bad script
|
have we seen that script yet? I am mainly just bummed that the current ant man is not gonna be Hank Pym. I was hoping for the movie in which he beats Janet around while drunk. J/k
although you know..alcoholism is a big part of Iron Man's story and downey JR IS a recovered alcoholic and drug addict and yet you know..they wont' touch that at all cause Iron Man filsm are lightweight entertainment. |
Seriously though the wasp is probably my number 1 comic book crush. And yeah i know she's been drawn differently across the years but in general she's been either cute or hot.
|
its been awhile since i've seen it but didnt ironman "recover" in the first movie
the scene where he's eating burger king at a press conference is supposedly an homage to downey's real life ... he had like $10k worth of drugs in his car and then got BK drive through and it was the worse burger he'd ever had so he took it as an omen or something and threw the drugs into the ocean |
Tired of superhero shit. The Dark Knight was the peak (the 3rd was terrible), and that's mostly because of the ways it separated itself from typical superhero movies. Spider-Man was cool, a classic. Two sequels, two remakes, and barely 10 years later, and I just don't care anymore. X-Men is probably my favorite superhero IP, and even then I skipped the Wolverine spinoffs. Days of Future Past was good, but not a game changer like The Dark Knight.
We're being saturated with average to above-average films, and it's hard to care anymore. Particularly because they all follow the same formula. Superhero movies are the generic war simulator FPS equivalent of film |
wtf have you READ watchmen
fuck you |
Watchmen is one of the greatest things I've ever read
|
I think "dronedoomhead" might be code for "stupidbonghead"
|
The movie was only cool if you read the graphic novel and then want to see the action scenes on the big screen with special effects
|
I read and love Watchmen. I still thought the director's cut (never saw the regular one) was alright. the thing i minded the most were the fight scenes actually....
|
Sick of ppl acting like Watchmen is the end be all of comics
|
It IS pretty damn good though and not actually overrated like say...most of what Frank Miller ever wrote.

|
as you can see i haven't read comics in 20 years
|
for reals.
not that i have that much either though. |
transmet i never even finished but it often makes its way into my vocab
planetary is also a really good one, in the vein of watchment. ellis has done the best with building on watchmen alan moore has written a lot of great stuff too. V for vendetta, the league of extraordinary gentlemen, that run on swamp thing. he's so great |
i just think it's weird when someone goes have you SEEN watchmen??? because i just feel like revisiting the same genre in movie form is not the most incredible experience and killtrocity is right but i do really like avengers and think the sequel will also be a lot of fun
why don't we make anything original for movies |
srs question guis
is it okay if i watch avengers going in blind? my friend says i should because its so badass omg... but i;ve only seen ironman 1. is there anything i should see before like craptain america and if so is it worth the effort? |
Well the plot is linked but the truth is Thor is awful and Captain America is alright but meh. Its like it helps a little but I'd say they are only necessary for people who don't know shit about those characters and their stories. Anyone who knows the characters a and their basic story doesn't need to see all the films leading up to Avengers. I also don't think avengers was as awesome as everyone made it out to be.
i'm annoyed they're not making any more hulk films. I mean...it's like oh we tried twice, that didn't work too well. and i don't get people too. they like the idea of hulk on paper but make a film and they're like well it's not what i wanted to see. Turns out all they really want is minimal Banner screen time and hulk smashing really powerful supervillains. Maybe it's cause the hulk stories will always be a little dour. Hulk wont' be cracking jokes, and generally, neither will Banner. Maybe what they want is a creepily overly nice Banner and a Hulk that helps the downtrodden, children, alcoholics or mentally challenged like in the series. |
