I don't know anything about baseball but D i'ma throw my weight behind your beloved Royals because it appears their work-hard-get-nowhere ethic mirrors that of my beloved Dockers.

Shit I'll join ya! I don't know much about any sports! But I like watching "big" games like this one and the superbowls/whatever the mlb does.

D. 10-01-2014 09:01 PM

World series that's what it is.

The Omega Concern 10-01-2014 11:35 PM

Giants 8-0 over the Pirates.

Bumgarner totally dominant. Someday Billy Beane will look across the Bay and figure out loyalty matters and mercenaries can't be leaders to a World Series.

Starla 10-02-2014 04:05 AM

Best royals / A's game I ever saw was in 2002 at the oakland coliseum.

Fuck all the rest!

Tigers are gonna need Scherzer, Verlander and Price at their greatest if they're going to have a chance. The Tigers bullpen is godawful... Just terrible.

Sucks that the Buccs had to rely on Volquez for an all or nothing game. I probably would have went with Liriano on short rest.

it's good enough to put them in the playoffs. But yeah, not the quality they've had in the past.

3.04 ERA this year -- that's way better than he's ever gonna do again

I've liked a lot of the Pirates talent for years now, and this guy Harrison seems every bit as good as McCutchen. tough draw for them, getting the experienced Giants.

and now the Giants go in as decided underdogs once again in the playoffs. Outside of MadBum though...o.k. maybe Peavey cause he's hot right now, their starting pitching is not even close to what it was in '10 and '12 when they won it.

But they just won their 7th elimination game in a row and brought back that near-flawless brand of ball it takes for them to get over on 'more talented' teams. That said, Nats prolly are the best team they've faced in any of their previous playoff runs. G's will have to play perfect to get over on them.

I do like their chances in game 1 with Peavey and the long break for the Nats. they steal the first one, they prolly win it in 4.

Royals vs. Angels

I'm rooting for the Royals baseball team, but if I were to be aware of the symbolism, I'm hoping for the Angels.

2-2, top of 11.

and of course the Detroit pen implodes during game 1. I can't believe Dombrowski didn't do more to address the bullpen issues before the trade deadline.

The Oriole rotation isn't that good, but it might be good enough to beat the Tigers. I really thought Detroit would have fared better against Tilman.

Yeah, I definitely think that's going to be an outlier year for him. Dudes bound to regress to his means.

Trotskilicious 10-03-2014 04:30 AM

it's all fixed

That performance from Bumgarner on Wednesday was a thing of beauty. Didn't even give the bats a chance.

But yeah, I don't think the Giants stand much of a chance against the Nats. Their offense is pathetic and their bullpen isn't all that great either. The Nats should have no problems stifling their putrid bats.

I think it's going to be the Nats/Dodgers in the NL finals. That would be one hell of a series.

Baseball and Hockey are the 2 sports where I've never witnessed any funny business when it comes to the Vegas lines.

I still think the NBA is the most bent.

What do you mean with the symbolism?

D. 10-03-2014 09:15 AM

Royals squeak by again. Intense!

MyOneAndOnly 10-03-2014 12:10 PM

Tigers got destroyed by Baltimore at the end of last night's game

wow

Like the year when the curse of the Babe was broken; It all started when the Indians beat the Yankees 22-0 on the same day some kid who used to live in Babe Ruth's old house caught a home run ball at Fenway Park.

Royals vs Angels...i.e. oligarchs vs disembodied benevolent spirits.

Ya...that's the same meme most baseball folks had when the G's faced the Phillies and the Rangers in 2010...and then the Cardinals and Tigers in 2012. Even without Pagan, if the G's are gonna decide to play the brand of ball they have recently in the MLB playoff tournament, doesn't matter who they play, the other team gets stymied.

I gotta think the G's to the under would of been a good value bet today.

The Omega Concern 10-03-2014 04:10 PM

fuzzy,

i forgot to mention rookie wonder boy Joe Panik. 73 games this year, hit .305...locked down 2nd base after Scutaro was done for good. stud...has hit Strasburg hard twice now.

too bad Posey hit into that double-play. damnit

1-0 Giants. bottom 3.

The Omega Concern 10-03-2014 07:10 PM

Just got over on the Nats ace. 9th consecutive postseason win, NL record. Rookies on fire. Underestimate the Giants at your own risk.
