this is what I come here for.

Let's watch him ignore everyone except sensei Trots, master of the netpho dojo

white kids right? they're so fucking infuriating. they've lived in their suburban walled communities for 20 years then they venture out on their own and haven't realized that the world does not care for them and it's much harder than mommy ever told you

Trotskilicious 10-09-2014 04:28 AM

and vixnix, your hatecrush is showing

Cool As Ice Cream 10-09-2014 04:48 AM

fuck work! can't some machine do it?
i've thought about this for a couple of minutes and this is my opinion.

watching some McDude from cluelessville identify you as his guru and commenting on it does not a hatecrush maketh, McTrotsky.

fuzzyroes 10-09-2014 05:41 AM

Hey now, Elhpy is Trotskies protege. It's a mentor/student type of relationship... Nothing wrong with that.

vixnix 10-09-2014 05:45 AM

I, in fact, have never commented on the wrongness of it and have only commented with albeit rather scathing affection

Trotsky has accused me of the hatecrush, first I will defend my honour with words. Then we shall summon the witnesses and put one of us to death. It is the only way

human beings just aren't meant to work

fuzzyroes 10-09-2014 05:51 AM

A good days work has a lot of value for the human mind/soul

you know, I'm going to take this because nobody else will give me anything for my trouble...I really appreciate you saying this, because otherwise it does feel like I'm doing the dog-work of Trotsky's mentoring and educating young Elphenor without anybody really acknowledging that all Trots does is turn up at the end and high-5 CAIC over some netpho bro banter

It's the reason why old people retire and then get alzheimer's within 5-10 years.

The brain is meant to be challenged and focused on a regular basis. If you're just sitting around doing nothing your brain will rot. That's why it's good to be an old fuck and still working or at least still creating art and living life at a consistent level.

Seriously its sad when you can't see when i'm not being for reals.

This is part of the problem with this forum.

Shallowed 10-09-2014 07:48 AM

The working world is becoming more and more mechanised tho

Shallowed 10-09-2014 07:51 AM

How come you never hear poor people that work their face off say that a hard day's work is good for the mind/soul?

hnibos 10-09-2014 09:17 AM

Because the people that say that are actually the one's that never worked hard ever

AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA ROLFMAO

Why are you making this about me? Likely I'll be a janitor or other shitty job they warn you about. But it has nothing to do with what I'm talking about

Trotskilicious 10-09-2014 05:30 PM

Ive heard stuff like that from cooks

Elphenor 10-09-2014 05:39 PM

I need to keep in mind that everyone on this board is old

Well, obviously theres a line in the sand. Being a workaholic isn't doing the mind any good. It's all about challenging the mind and keeping it exercised to a certain level on a daily basis. Work is a way to accomplish that.

You see these people on welfare and what not and most of them aren't in a very good emotional state. Even people that win the lottery and coast on that have been shown to have a greater risk at having psychiatric problems.

The exploding boy 10-09-2014 06:03 PM

Definitely spending most of my adult life not working (making a living but not working per se) i think has really fucked me up and fucked up any chance at ever having any kind of fairly normal life.

Ehhh. It's never too late to right the ship man. When I was younger and out of school I didn't hold a job for a couple years and my mental problems really came to the forefront and my emotional stability was in the gutter. I put a lot of work into bettering myself but working a steady job really was one of the major factors in alleviating those problems.

Strange, that. Because according to this:

Cooks are right at the bottom of the heap of wages. Even the very highest paid chefs get a middling wage compared to some of the upper percentiles of other industries. The conditions are really high stress, too.

Trotskilicious 10-10-2014 04:14 AM

yeah no kidding but they act like masochists about it, read the first tony bourdain book
