puzzles.

when's the last time you did one?

i used to always have one going when i lived alone - tried to, anyway. tim and i have done about 3 or so together. we're working on one now. it's a diego rivera (detroit industry) painting. they are so fun!

i've never bought a 3-d one, though. they seem too easy... like putting together legos or some junk.

i glued a couple by myself, but never got around to framing them. >_<

methuselah tree!

I have a 3d one and I can't figure it out to save my life. It's supposed to be some sort of castle, but like 75% of the pieces just have a brick pattern so they all look pretty much identical to each other.

I haven't done a puzzle in a while, but I have one that is a 3 ft long picture of the vegas strip and it glows in the dark. I don't know when I'll get around to it though

750 for the 3ft vegas one. 840 for the 3d one. Some 3d ones are probably easier than others, but if you want a challenge try one where more than half of the pieces look exactly the same.

In middle school we made our own puzzles in art class. It was a memorable art class project. I think I still have it somewhere.

Puzzles are one of the few things that did not translate to the internet well, virtual puzzles are terrible. I'm an ace with the real ones, though. Deal with it.

yo soy el mejor 09-21-2014 04:31 PM

online puzzles?

slunken 09-21-2014 06:12 PM

puzzles are great but picture puzzles were okay when i was a kid i guess. it's just a lot of trial and error mostly.

I wasn't sure what to put on mine, so I made a big question mark with a kind of psychedelic, colorful background behind it. What made it memorable was that I could take it home and actually use it.

I have a Bart Simpson "SK8" puzzle that has been sitting unopened in its box for years. Maybe I'll finally do it once I move into my new place. Maybe.

yo soy el mejor 09-22-2014 11:59 PM

how many pieces?

i don't think i've done one over 1,000. it's time to move up, though, because we finished it in record time.

Skradgee 09-23-2014 01:39 AM

100. It won't take long.

yo soy el mejor 09-23-2014 09:21 AM

you should just sell it on ebay for a whole bunch of dollars.

reprise85 09-25-2014 05:49 PM

very cool hobby, ******. i dont have that particular brand of patience.

slunken 09-25-2014 06:38 PM

i wonder if they sell puzzles where the pieces are all the same shape and size. like a triangle or something.

null123 09-25-2014 06:53 PM

I play a lot of Bejeweled 3 if that counts

mxzombie 09-25-2014 10:02 PM

the most difficult puzzle i ever did was two-sided. it had the same image on both sides, rotated 90 degrees relative to one another. it was a cartoon scene of a baseball game with a bunch of people in the crowd. i think it took a couple of weeks for my dad, brother and i to finish it.

I read a book once where a group of kids did a puzzle that was just a plain white circle. I tried googling a similar puzzle a while ago but I don't think one exists
