9/11/01 I was 19, catching work here and there trying to pay rent and buy booze; happened to be working with/for my dad laying carpet and tile. we were pulling up/putting down carpet in a pre-school. we heard it on the radio and, as the events unfolded, i wondered if they were trying to hit every state or every national landmark.

my sister was to get married in california in ten days and i asked me dad if he'd be able to fly out there and he was all calm and was like, "yeah they'll get it figured out by then" all calm and smooth as shit. and they did; he flew out there and me and my friends drive out there in a van.

then we went to a funeral home to do some work and i saw my first dead body in real life. i always think of that day when i pass by that funeral home, too.

Ten years, huh?

Trotskilicious 09-11-2014 02:32 AM

butthurt 09-11-2014 02:47 AM

I was reading about pet goats.

Cool As Ice Cream 09-11-2014 02:51 AM

i was in my bed, just waking up and listening to the news on the radio.
then i got out of bed and watched the rest on telly. it was a bit repetitive, but i still thought it was better than that movie independence day.

I was on the bus on my way to my 10:00 class (african studies -- never liked it because my ex was in the class and our relationship was strained at the moment). Riding with two friends. A few people on the bus started receiving calls on their 2001 cell phones. One of the people was talking to someone in NYC and they were upset. Got to campus and it was eerily quiet -- something was definitely amiss. We had heard a small plane had hit the first tower.

By the time we got to class, it was canceled and a TV was brought into a conference room. I sat there with my ex and a buddy and other classmates until the 1st tower fell.

Since I went to college just down the street from the CDC's main campus, the bus service and all the streets had shut down and were barricaded by police by 10:00 or so. We had to walk home amid worries that terrorists were about to fly a plane into the CDC or the Bank of America building in Atlanta.

Trotskilicious 09-11-2014 05:17 AM

you know what i love is that he's been corrected twice even though he posted it on the 10th at 8pm

i mean seriously guys

duovamp 09-11-2014 08:13 AM

Have you all forgotten?

Trotskilicious 09-11-2014 08:29 AM

pretty much yeah

Mo 09-11-2014 08:46 AM

the day football stopped

MyOneAndOnly 09-11-2014 10:43 AM

Right before it happened I was working with a small special ops team helping to rig the towers so that it would look like a plane made them fall.

That was a busy week cause afterwards we had to ensure all the "experts" stuck to their scripts when talking to the media.

Right. That would of been the 8th and 9th because the WTC cameras, locks and electricity were turned off the weekend before that Tuesday.

Forbes has called this unprecedented, because to have a data centre lose power for two days requires major preparations and disruption. He reports that as part of the power down, all security cameras and security door locks were non-operational for about 36 hours.

“Remember there were no security locks on doors or security cameras, so access was free unless a door was locked by a manual key. Seeing so many ‘strangers’ who didn’t work at the WTC was unusual,” Forbes said.

well played scotty. with no vid, we'll just have to take your word for it.

The girl I just dated for a few weeks tried to convince me 9/11 was an inside job.

Dear god, you people bore me to tears.

Trotskilicious 09-12-2014 04:42 AM

was that the one that you thought you might be in love with

Trotskilicious 09-12-2014 04:42 AM

I woke up to find mum watching the events on TV in her dressing gown, her hands covering her mouth in shock. I asked her what movie she was watching.

Trotskilicious 09-12-2014 05:00 AM

truth: i woke up those days to npr on the radio so it was this groggy slow realization, you know it was between sleep and wakefulness. i still kind of think about it like that

i remember how everyone didn't know what to do until some guys wanted revenge and then everyone was like yeah that sounds like a great idea

You all still believe in this? There never were world trade center towers in NY, everyone knows that by now.
